5" Barrels for S&W-36 & Colt Dect. Special.

Are there 5" barrels for the S&W Model 36 and the Colt Detective Special? Want to make Restricted so I can pass on! Appreciate any pointers. Thanks.

Both J frames and D frames have been available with 5" bbls at various times in the past. Check with Numrich or WGP for starters. - dan

Thanks Dan! Contacted both & neither has these anymore. Will need to find an older revolver to steel one from (in worse shape than mine!)

It will probably be easiest to have a new barrel turned for the Colt since they don't have underlugs. I've bee wanting to get a Police Positive Special to go with my Army Special and that looks like the easiest route.

the 3rd series DS has a shroud under the barrel. I suppose it could be eliminated but it looks nicer with the shroud imo

For the Colt all Police Positive and Diamondback barrels should fit. So maybe a 6" might be easier to come by. - dan

Numrich did have 5" nickle plated PPS .38 special barrels last time I checked. No idea how hard it is to bring one in.

Shouldn't be much different than ordering from Brownells. I'd be all over that if I needed it. I doubt there's a lot of barrels kicking around. - dan
