.311 round ball mold

I have a Lee 2 cavity .311 round ball mold

I'm looking for a 6/12/18 cavity mold.....

Lee makes several 18 cavity molds for buckshot, but not in .311, anybody have any ideas where to start?

Lee might make a 6 cavity mould for you. Not sure what additional cost would be.

According to their web site, $175 USD..... It's an option, but at $175+$65+shipping, duty, taxes,exchange it's a very expensive one!

Are you looking for buckshot or to feed for your 32 rifle?

A fellow can cast a lot of roundball for a rifle with a two cavity mould.

The big buckshot moulds can be hard to regulate the heat and get good fill out as well. With my larger moulds, I use a hot plate to maintain mould temps while casting.

Just some food for thought.

Damn... they be the answer to making some "canister" rounds for the 2.6 dia. cannon...1/3 lb of 1F and a 2 lb stand of that .330 stuff gives a whole new meaning to "scaring them damn feathered crop ruining heathens".

I have a recipe that uses a trap wad and a dozen of these balls that is "magic".... it's takes a long time to cast enough balls to make a box of shot shells with the 2 cavity mold!

Nows there's an option. 310 - single 0.

$60US landed. It almost seems too good to be true.... what didn't you like about them? Just the extra bits of sprue and the higher heat needed?

Yeah I burned myself pretty bad the first time I used mine. Usd it once more and sold it. I had a hell of a time getting it hot enough to fill out. Wasn't worth the pain and grief. The time spent cutting it all apart could be far better spent casting more with a 2 cavity mold. Or get another one or two and cycle them so they run a consistent heat and less waiting for cool down between pours.
