Best 10mm Pistol??

I had a Colt Delta Elite 10mm , the EAA Witness (Tanfoglio) 10mm and a Glock G20c. With full power hand loads (155gr fmj, 800x powder) the Glock got real hard on the hands after 20rds or so. It had a wild flash, very loud, made gongs dance, made a great conversation piece and most just had to try it.

A Bren 10 would be a sweet find

Thanks for the reply. I just finished a 460 Rowland build and was able to work up the load data into 44 magnum territory. It is a fantastic cartridge! I am definitely leaning towards the Glock platform, but I am still worried about not having an aftermarket barrel for it.

haha, ive got a 1911 with a Rowland kit on it sitting un-fired in my gun safe.
i have to get around to loading some rounds for it!
10mm is the next obvious place to go to after youve made a Rowland i think.

I have owned nearly every 10mm out there except the Bren 10. I'd recommend the Glock 40 or 20 personally. You can load right to max without changing anything. I stopped using aftermarket barrels and springs years ago after doing my own testing with all sorts of combos and max loads using Blue dot, AA9, 800x longshot and power pistol. Perhaps the pre generation 3 guns had looser chambers but the only time I have ever seen bulging or cracking is with loads way, way over maximum. The Glocks are tanks. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Wow. Okay. This post does bring some interesting experience. So a Glock 20/40 with OEM barrel should not be a problem for load development? What about hard cast?? I run a lot of hard cast in my revolvers and other auto loaders without any issues. Some people say that you should not run cast out of octagonal rifling. I have read further into this and I have found information from a ballistics expert at Buffalo Bore stating that "hard cast" is not the same as regular "lead". Apparently "hard cast" lead is okay out of OEM barrels??

School me gents...

damn this thread!

i keep checking my email to see if my G40 has made it into the country yet..... and no.

Lol. It happens to all of us ;). Every time I order something something special, I check my email constantly. It turns into an obsessive compulsive behavior. Example.... Item: In transit...Day 1...In transit Day 2...In transit...Day 3...In transit.....

I say @#$% you "In Transit" until it comes. Then in my mind...I say "Thank you soooo much!!"

I have an all-steel EAA Witness and it's very solid. I upgraded the recoil spring and guide to handle full-power loads, but so far I haven't loaded up any hot handloads [but soon...].

This pistol is about as close to the Bren Ten concept as you can get. The only drawbacks are that the pistol is pretty heavy and with the 19lb. recoil spring, it's a challenge to load the chamber. Doing a fast tap-rack is pretty much out of the question unless you are _very_ strong...

I called them today. And as per your post, they were exceptionally helpful and advised me that whatever I want on the Lone Wolf site in terms of barrels they could get for me.

Thank you so much for the help Phat Eagle. It is MUCH appreciated. You have opened a door for me.

No worries, that's what this forum is for!! Happy shooting, and let's see some results when you get it going!
