Trying to figure out... Legal use of threaded barrel in Canada?

i do believe what the fella meant was instead of a 4" barrel his gun came with a 4.2" barrel that was threaded then they put a cover on the threading and loctited it on.
all M&P22's in Canada are that way from what i understand.

What specifically can I use a threaded barrel for in Canada. I know that silencers are specifically prohibited... but threaded barrels are not. I like the look of them, but they usually cost more, and I am not sure if I am paying for it purely for looks, or I can attach something to it.

Thanks in advance for all the informative answers I'm sure to get.

it allows us to have guns that we could not normaly have because we have the barrels replaced with the threaded ones that get us over the min length.

take for example my Glock 19 that i just got.
the threaded barrel makes it legal length otherwise i would need a 12(6) to have one.

otherwise youd have a Pinocchio barrel sticking out like my M&P compact.

some companies just put a cover on the threading (like M&P22)

and of course you can put a comp on them

im actually surprised by the amount of handguns i have that have threaded barrels.
and it seems like almost all 22 rifles are threaded barrels these days.

What about all the R/A XCR's in Canada that have the muzzle brakes pinned due to the brake adding to barrel length? If memory serves me the Norc T97 is the same.

There is permanent Loctite out there.

Pretty sure those are pinned for US compliance, as any rifle less than 16" (including permanently attached MB/FH is considered a SBR) AKA NFA item that requires a 200$ tax stamp and registration with ATF.

Norq does not have a pinned FH.

The Glock 19 barrel is a whole 4mm too short for Canada. Heard there's a company that sells Canadian-legal length G19 barrels for $300ish.

There are a few aftermarket manufacturers that make canadian spec G19 barrels. Lone wolf and Storm lake are a few that come to mind.

Personally I hate the way that threaded barrels look. I had KKM Precision make a custom length barrel for my Glock 19 that looks much better IMO.

That being said, I'm now looking into a threaded barrel for it, because I might test the waters on running it compensated.

By the way, the US Congress is still moving forward with the Hearing Protection Act , which will make it much easier to buy suppressors in the US by removing state taxes on these items.

I know it's wishful thinking, but maybe one day, ONE DAY, we will be allowed legal suppressors for hearing protection. Those threaded barrels may yet come in handy. If suppressors are made mandatory for hearing protection, like in Germany, there would be a scramble for threaded barrels causing a temporary shortage. Anyone who already has threaded barrels wouldn't have to wait for new barrels before resuming shooting.

That makes more sense.
It's a dog pecker gun! :)
