Ranch hand holster

I've got about a half a cow worth of leather kicking around and was hoping to make up a holster for my ranch hand. Has anyone got a pattern for one? Some really nice ones online with the front cut out but can't find any patterns and really don't want to try the cut and check method with pricey leather.

Get yourself some heavy paper or even better a crazy carpet and use it to make a mock up. Crazy carpet is easy to cut, ive even made holsters with it that are very durable.

Try TANDY leather, they are still around i know they sell holster kits but maybe they also have patterns.

I've checked Tandy. Nothing I can find for ranch hand.

What kind of holster do you want? A quick lightweight cross draw to stow the gun while glassing a field taking pictures or otherwise needing two hands?

Or some sort of leg contraption with straps that looks great on the range but is likely hell to hike with?

For a handy cross draw I would pattern it after the simple gun bucket holsters.

Looking for a full protection style with front cut out. So it doesn't get all banged up while walking around.

yes its a boyds set LESS than impressed with the fit however. took lots to make it work.
