Beaver Barf on a VZ 58?

Can I put surplus 858 beaver barf on a modern day CSA VZ 58 using the VZ 58 hardware?

You bet. It was my favorit to use. Super durable and unique look. Also all it needs is some oil to look awsome and glossy.

Beaver barf replaced the original beach wood stocks and imo it was a much better option for militay use. The beach wood cracks easy due to how thin it is.

Beaver should fit. NOS wood furniture needs fitting and sanding sometimes. Wooden UHG can be brittle and break over time. Aftermarket wood newly cut from IWD is much thicker and unbelievably beautiful when finished.

I think beaver barf is the ugliest thing I've ever seen on a firearm, but it's supposed to be durable.

I like the black polymer look better, then the wood. The wood you can stain to any colour you desire, mine is a walnut colour (on surplus beech).
