How Many Lefties Out There And What Do you Shoot?

Lefty as well. Own Browning Abolt. 300 Win Mag, pump 12g, ambi 9mm pistol. Can shoot RH bolt guns left as I am forced to by my employer who refuses to recognize non right handed people. Have been playing with semi autos ( Browning and Remington) lately for hunting. Am considering trying pump rifles and BLR style rifles.

Lefty too - and I absolutely loved my old Winchester 94. I found rt handed bolts a pain until my dad (who was a lefty too) showed me how he was taught during WW II on Lee Enfields. I never could get the knack of reaching over the action to work the bolt....too darn impatient I guess.

Right handed but lost my right eye 25 years ago so I shoot left.

Left Hand Guns:

Tikka T3 Varmint SS .308
Tikka T3x Varmint SS .223
JR Carbine 9mm converted to left

The rest are right handed semi-auto or pump. I still shoot handguns right handed. My Kel-Tec SU-16 Tactical gets the most use and works fine for a lefty, no brass to the face.

Lefty, used right bolts years ago but a Rem 700 lefty cured that. Sold it however and bought and carried traditional levers and a BLR. Settled quickly on a 444 Marlin in the 70's. Also a 10-22 but who didn't try one at least. As age and health issues advanced I gravitated to range rifles and woods loafing for short distances. Win 94, Win 92, Handi Hornet, and 9422 and air rifles. Joined the bolt club again after decades with a CZ 527 American 223 lefty, very pleased with the little Mauser action and rifle as a whole.

I dislike monte carlo stocks and own none. My prized air rifle, HW35E, has a pronounced right cheekpiece that doesn't affect shooting, still hate the look. The American stock design is my idea of a modern rifle stock that is ambidextrous. For iron sights and medium recoil nothing beats my Alberta Assault rifle, 50's M94 in 32 Special with a Lyman receiver sight.

I'm in the same boat as you, right handed but have to shoot left because of poor eye sight in my right eye. Since I started shooting 35 years ago all my rifles and shotguns have been right handed until last year I finally bought a Tikka .223 lefty. To tell you the truth, I find operating a left handed bolt a bit on the awkward side now.

This. Every firearm I have owned in the past 30 years has been right handed. The only firearm I own that is actually left handed is my flintlock because all that powder flashing off right in front of my face is a wee bit disconcerting.

Other than that I don't see the point of left handed firearms for the most part.

unfortunately , I'm a left an have no left handed rifles, I have ambedex win 94 an ruger number 1 ... one day want a dedicated left hand rig

do ok shootin right hand guns

Left handed, right eye dominant. Learned to shoot long before I knew anything of eye dominance, so I grew up shooting right handed rifles left hand. Bought my first left hander years ago and became an immediate convert. The safe now contains left hand bolts, levers, pumps, a SxS, and a couple oddballs (rolling block etc).

When I found out about eye dominance I tried for a short time to switch to right hand shooting but just couldn't get it to feel "natural" and it was just plain uncomfortable so I kept things as they were.

Surprised I have not seen more single shots here. They seem to be non biased, a lot like a straight hockey stick. I adopted the Thompson center Pro hunter/Encore brand. I have several barrels for my rig, and change them as the seasons change.
I do like bolt guns, but don't like adapting to cycling the right handed bolt. My thinking is that the first shot is generally your best one. Anything after that starts leaving things to chance. That being said, many a hunter shoot game on the run surprisingly accurate! After a little practice, a guy can re-load a single shot fairly quickly.

Edit: just bought a remington pump rifle..

Learned to shoot left because of left eye dominate, now teaching myself to shoot rifles RH, have 2 grandsons, one probably LH, other is RH, so if going to teach how to shoot . I can shoot pistols eather LH or RH . My main big game rifle is a Remington pump. but have a selection of RH bolts, couple lever actions , couple semi auto 22's and TC muzzle loader . No LH bolts, but was eyeing up a sweet 22 mag LH Savage at gun show last year!

Thanks for all the great comments! So there are quite a few of us after all...
I see many like right hand bolts anyway ( I have one - Husqvarna 146) and I also notice there are others out there that just hate seeing a beautiful right hand rifle with a bloody big cheekpiece and raised comb on the "wrong" side... I now have three left handed rifles... most ever for me. Tikka M65 lh 338 win mag, Tikka M695 lh 7mm rem mag and Rem 700 lh 30.06
