In a wonderful turn of events, my EXPS-2 fell under the Eotech refund window. I submitted my claim, but did not have a receipt. As such, they're "only" willing to refund me the MSRP of $579 USD, which works out to about $765 CAD. I paid less than that three years ago for my Eotech, so that sounds like a good deal to me.
Now, I didn't dislike my Eotech; I actually loved it. I don't have lots of experience with different optics, but my Eotech did me just fine. The thing is, I've now built an SBR, and weight is something that I have to contend with. The DDMK18 upper isn't exactly slim and lean, so I'm more conscious of all the goodies I've been strapping onto it. Eotechs are more or less bricks with windows on top of the gun.
I'm not military or LE, so my life doesn't depend on an optic, but I do believe in "buy once, cry once". I pondered going to a vortex optic, but I'd rather just buy something solid and hope it outlasts me.
It sounds like Aimpoint is still the pinnacle of red dots, and the T1/T2 are pretty damn small and would probably suit my needs. So, here are the details, and my requirements:
Rifle- BCM mod 0 lower, DDMK18 upper
Uses- Carbine courses and range fun
Requirements:
- Lightweight
- Not junk
- Low maintenance (in terms of batteries, etc)
- MUST full co-witness with BUIS
Am I on the right path with the T1/T2? Is the trijicon MRO worthy of a look? Am I missing anything?
