Colt Classic M16A1 Clone

I want those triangular hand guards!!

I've got a Colt AR with just about every feature this one has except the hand guards, barrel (it's a 1-7 HBAR), and the 3 prong flash hider. Those hand guards would make my clone look perfect.

Strange that they use the three prong when it's supposed to be an M16A1.

Looks cool, hopefully the price is realistic.

Birdcage came after the 3 prong on the M16a1. It was originally carried over onto the m16a1 from the m16 design and on later m16a1 builds they switched to the birdcage.

Not true, the requested change to the closed end flash suppressor was requested and approved in '66. M16A1 designation happened in '67.

Now if they marked it XM16E1 the three prong or closed end would be correct.

Ask any Vietnam vet and a lot of the M16 where franken builds. Some had partial fences, others had full. They where a mix match of manufactures and parts.

The M16, XM16E1 yes, the M16A1 no. GM and H&R never made a single M16A1, their contracts were up prior to the M16A1 being adopted 28 Feb 67. Not a single three prong was supplied to the US Army past Sep '66. Why do you think they were on SP1s for so long? Colt had no other way to get rid of them. Do mix masters exist? Yes of course. But not a single M16A1 left the Colt factory with a three prong, not for the US Army anyway.
