I bought a lyman 266305 mold at a gun show last winter and its lighter at around 105 grains than I would normally look for. I gas checked them and with 8 grains of red dot I was amazed how good they shoot in a M38 Swedish mauser.
Had bad luck with the cruise missile. Couldn't get any accuracy over 1000fps with it. It's too long and that makes it weak. Bends and deforms on launch. They apparently work better if you machine the mold down and take the gas check shank and last drive band off. The last lube groove becomes the gas check shank and they launch better. They are also easy to bend and fracture at the lube grooves if you drop them a little too soon from the mold. Good luck. I gave mine away to a friend and after one summer he gave it away as well.
Not in every gun. That's what others "say", but I've found bullets from this mold shoot well (not the best, but ok) in both my M96 Swede and a M41 Carcano. Look at the "Huge 0.264" Bullet Test" thread that's stickied in the Reloading Forum - I donated some for testing.
I had a "Cruise Missile" mold milled down to make a 140 gr Plain Base and it shoots well. Why did I do that? There are very few 6.5mm molds out there and almost none are Plain Base.
