Hey CGN, this is a question for you that shoot Revo in competition. Did you swap the factory grips for competition style grips? Or are they a waste of money that can be better spent on ammo?

Thanks

What kind of competition? And what is the problem you are trying to solve?
Are factory grips too small or too big for your hands?

Some people use Hogue's, some use the new style S&W grips. I use the old Uncle Mike's.

I don't recommend Pachmayr's because of the steel insert and that makes the gun too heavy.

What revolver are you shooting?

Depends on what you're doing with the Revo and how you reload (strong hand or weak hand)
Doing IPSC and reloading strong hand (Miculek style) I use the Miculek grips. Any other grip and I can't manipulate the pistol and rotate it in my hands when reloading (too sticky)

I only use the Miculek grips. They let me grip the gun high and reload with speedloaders or moonclips with either hand. Because they are smooth it is easy to alter your grip if you miss it slightly on the draw. Best part.....no finger grooves!!! Grips with finger grooves force you to take a predetermined grip which may not be optimal. I have never found a set of groved grip that allowed me to grip the gun as high as I need to.

Hey John, I like your point of being to grip the gun high...but I did not know about the finger grooves being a potential hindrance. How much are they approximately?

but I did not know about the finger grooves being a potential hindrance.

Hard to describe until you do it. It becomes a big hindrance.

You can get them from Miculek.com or from Hogue (they make them for Jerry) $100-110 US

I used the Miculek grips and found the too slippery. The gun moved around in my hand. He has checkered grips available too.

FWIW, I get my grip while the gun is in the holster.
