Good evening, I have a Colt 1911 and interested in 10 round magazines (2 more than factory) these 10 round mags will stick out past the base of the grip. Anything negative I need to be aware of when shooting IDPA are they allowed?
Thank you.

Thank you.

10rd mags are only for the 9mm and 40S&W in ESP but for the 45ACP (CDP and ESP) it's 7/8 rd mags plus the guns must fit the box with the heaviest mag inserted.

if I were you id order the tripp mags directly from tripp research ( they ship to Canada)

https://www.trippresearch.com/store/store_1911.html

if you order 10 they end up being 34 USD.. with shipping I paid around 45$ a mag when I bought them last year around march. haven't had any problems with my mags and I shoot ipsc a lot. I have the dawson basepads on mine but if you don't have a magwell or a STI magwell the factory tripp basepads should work fine.

Tripp mags ate probably the best.

I use a Wilson 47 with Tripp conversion in my carry pistol, and my spare magazines are both Tripp 8rd mags. I use what my personal research has shown is best for defensive carry.

However, if you are sticking with ball, the original tapered lip profile is probably best.

My range mags are mostly Metalform and Checkmate. I run ball, SWC, and cast truncated cone.

I have loaned some of my old CMC 38 Super mags to people who used them in courses and they worked well with 9mm Luger. Might be able to find some of those used...

Thanks for all your input folks. After careful consideration and feedback from folks at the range, I selected Tripp - 10 round for my 9mm Colt. I received these in just 5 days from Texas. Very nice folks to deal with at Tripp. A great product. Thanks again guys.
