Anybody know AG m42B Swedish ?

Lots of info online you need to read . Do not use factory ammo in this or reload to bolt gun specs at least until you are informed .Info here in the stickys and on Swiss forums for starters . Extra caution and knowledge required as with m14 etc IMO

.
Keep your fingers out of the action if you want to keep them intact. Taking the safety off will allow the action to slam shut on them.

good advice

I owned its cousin the Hakim, and this "giant mouse trap design" was one of the reason why I sold it.

The Swedish AG42 doesn't seem to be a reloaders dream either.

The guns were sold here about ten years before the surplus ammo came out with the bolt action
rifles. Allen Lever sold them mint condition with kit... $50.00

Good guns and fun to shoot with very low recoil. Like the guys said, keep your fingers out of the action.

If your looking to reload the spent ammo, pack a lunch; the rifle throws the empties into the next time zone.

Yup!! Its a snapper!!! :)

That is why the B's have the mouse ears. Too many accidents wearing gloves etc in the snow and rain with the ridges on the early models.

Always imagine you are seeing this when you touch the receiver and you will be ok. ;)

I'm on my fifth or sixth . They're great old rifles , but they do have some quirks . The best way to keep your fingers intact is to get in the habit of putting the rifle on safe whenever you intend to put your fingers in harms way . Also , as others have pointed out , do some research regarding what loads can be used safely in your rifle . Just like the M1 Garand , these rifles were developed with powders used in the 1940's . Using some modern propellants in them can lead to instant self disassembly , not good . With a bit of fore thought , they are a very accurate , reliable , and more importantly , fun rifle to shoot . Enjoy .

Ya, you dont really want to buy one without a mag.

Yup, I had a mag with mine. Shot it at Shilo for one of their Battle of the Bulge shoots. Lo and behold, when I got home and went to put the rifle in my safe, no magazine. Oh well, they were fun matches.

I dont have much experience with them, but that seems to be a common story. I wonder if this is a known issue?
