Unlike S&W or Colt, I don't think Ruger ever gave their different guns a frame designation. The Security and speed six were one frame size, and the Redhawk another. Same thing with the GP-100 and Super Redhawk.
Very sturdy revolver that can withstand a diet of magnum rounds. It's stronger than the S&W's K frame. The GP100 was designed specifically for the.357 Magnum just like the L frame from S&W. The GP100 is the strongest tho.
I know that in a batch of speed loaders I bought that one didn't work in my K frame gun. Turned out it was for a Ruger Speed Six.
I know this doesn't directly answer your question but if you are looking at a Security Six it's data worth knowing because you'll need to find the proper speed loaders.
Looking at my Security Six beside a S&W Model 10 [K frame ] , the only noticeable deference in size are the massive top strap and huge recoil shield , everything else looks close to it being the same as the Smith .
