Thanks, but I did... it was sold to another CGN member on the EE with the original synthetic stock, and the wood stock went to someone else. I've come to realize that I don't ever really own guns, I'm just a temporary curator!

^HTH is spot on. The 917 is a 17HMR. Now, I did run a 452 Varmint in .22LR that whole week, and the rifle was shooting custom hollow-point CCI Blazer. None of the gophers came apart QUITE that much with the Blazer, but a hit was an instant kill. No other 22LR ammo I've tried has worked any better, especially for the $!
