Rimfire goals 2017?

Since its winter and friggin cold outside my short term goals to get ready for 2017 are already happening.Today I fixed the trigger spring on my mossberg 42b by brazing a tab so the spring doesn't slip off the trigger housing. This old junker mossy has been a real fixer upper since I bought it.
The Post man also dropped off my latest EE purchase a new to me Vortex HST 6-24x50 to go on my 1813 supermatch.I had to steal the BKL ring set up off my MPR and used the permanant mount talleys for Anschutz 30mm that i've had sitting around. The 1813 doesn't have the holes for the talleys. Both Anschutz's now wear the same scopes as I really like the Vortex reticle and find 24x plenty at 50yds.It also makes it easier to go from one to the other with similar set ups.Short term goal is they both need sighting in,should take about 5 mins.Long term goal is to get lot's of center X through them both.I have to get used too the rock BR.
Happy shooting !! SC

My goal is to shoot till my fingers bleed while listening to the part in "Summer of 69" where he says he bought a six string and played it till his finger bled

Or buy a 22lr bolt gun. not sure which is cheaper yet

Just got a call from Prophet River today my new barrel for the XXII in the middle arrived :) I should have it in hand either by Friday or mid next week.

Mine is to build a fun little chicken/gopher blaster / plinker 10/22. I want the magpul x-22 stock, a 10.5" bull barrel, and just a simple reflex sight on it. Should be a fun little gun!

So how do those three shoot?

Currently, all they do is go *click* lol ;)

MSR could produce a successful 1/2" challenge every time out with it using SK or Lapua ammo. Lots of .2s, .3s and .4s but prone to random, puzzling fliers. Didn't have the best factory target out of Nordic Marksman's last shipment but darn it, the wood was too good to pass up. Taking it to another level now.

Was never happy with the XXII performance, very inconsistent typical average 0.6-0.8" at 50 yards. After taking it all apart and measuring with a depth micrometer I found the headspace was much too tight. The bolt was always stiff to close and especially open after firing except with Eley ammo (thinnest rim of the brands). It's bolt is 0.005" longer than the MSR's, only now do I see I could have swapped bolts and tested it with proper headspace. I'll probably end up lapping the bolt lug down to get the headspace up to the proper spec with the new barrel.

The last one is a build from scratch, had no intentions of wasting time with a factory barrel in it. Got the stock from Boyds, pillared it and inletted/prepped for bedding, reinforced forend. I'm gunna be a little tight lipped on the details until it's built and tested I'll just say I'm going with a different barrel maker for it than I am with the MSR.

What happened to your Anschutz barrel?

Djdilliodon on Rimfire Central offered me a great price to make a Benchmark barrel for it, that's what happened ;)

I asked him about doing a barrel for the XXII and he suggested using that action for a new build with a different stock. The whole appeal of that rifle to me is the weatherby stock so I wanted to keep it as original as possible. A rifle with a DJ Benchmark barrel though was definitely something I wanted to have. I didn't immediately think of re-barreling the MSR and was browsing the EE for a donor rifle ideally an Annie 64 action. At first I was thinking of going all out and getting a Mcmillan stock for it too. There was a good candidate with a cracked and repaired stock for a reasonable price but it sold before I decided on it. I really started to think about this and did a cost/benefit analysis. I realized I really shouldn't be walking off the deep end and buying a whole other rifle for a custom build but I could justify to myself tuning up something I already have. The MSR was the ideal candidate with an excellent trigger and stock already suited to the desired barrel contour. It's factory pillared so all I have to do is glass bed it. If any of my rifles should get the Benchmark, it should be this one.

Last month I bought a savage stainless heavy barrel in 17 wsm to add to my collection. Seems to shoot very nice with no fliers and around 3/8 inch groups at 50 yards on average. May change the stock out for a boyds in the coming year and work on the groups a bit more.

That stock looks amazing.. I have to have it. Is it custom made? If not, where did it come from and it's for a CZ I assume?

Thanks. It is a Boyds Pro-Varmint. https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/ Custom options seen here are the colour, high gloss finish and adjustable comb. This one is inletted for a CZ 455 action and I've opened up the barrel channel for a straight 0.900" barrel. They can inlet the stock for a variety of makes and models, all made to order.

I have the Boyd's varmint thumb hole for a cz 452 in forest green I may sell. Not using it right now. I like that tacticool one better looks wise

That's RabidM4U5's Mr. Fly CZ 455 two stage trigger.

Rabid, where did you find it?

I astutely observed that Wolverine Supplies had them coming in just before Christmas, ironically enough he posted this just under you grauhanen :)

Mr Fly triggers on route. Should be here in a week or so. Ordering the "miniset" through us from CZUB is no problem. Call or e-mail for details

I made sure to secure my order before they even got listed on the website, noting how recently at CZ-USA these triggers were sold out the instant they arrived. Actually oversold by 6, some poor folks are back ordered once again :( I'm not sure how many Wolverine brought in, but they are now on the site for sale. If you want one, I'd suggest you do not hesitate and buy it now.
