I have reloaded pistol for many years and many 10K rounds.
Going to reload 308 for the first time next month.
Instead of buying a toolhead kit for my dillon 650, i will be going single stage with the LEE breechlock system.

That said, people are telling me the best way to get powder accurately (and quickly) in a 308 empty casing, is an automatic powder trickler.
I understand that the best has been mentionned in threads, has to do with a cambridge technologies scale or something like that.
Since i am only starting at it, got a 500$ budget for the trickler.

RCBS chargemaster combo?
Hornady lock and load auto charge?
Lyman 1200?

Thanks for the input

I have the hornady. I wouldn't recommend it. I am on my 3rd one through warranty issues. RCBS seems to be the standard. The A&D fx120 with auto trickled seems to be the absolute best. I am getting the A&D this year to accompany the hornady as I don't fully trust it.

Yes it was fx120 setup, i don't know why i have cambridge in mind but thats the one i meant.
The fx120, would definately be the one if i was shooting matches and such.
For a casual medium range (400-500M) plinker, i think i can't be too off with the commercial el cheapo tricklers (hornady, RCBS, Lyman)

I have a Lyman gen6. If I set the charge to 39.6, probably 7 out of ten come out at 39.5 on the digital readout. A few come out as 39.6 and maybe one in 25 will over charge. I find it acceptable as long as I watch the digital readout and sort them as I'm weighing charges and throw the over charges back in the hopper. It was quite a bit cheaper than the Rcbs and it only takes a few minutes to clean up. I've only used it for imr 4350. If I do my part and conditions are good I commonly shoot .2 to .5 moa at 300 and 500 metres.

If im gonna use a charge thrower might as well get a 308 conversion for my 650 and use the dillon powder hopper to charge powder.
Already own an RCBS 5-0-5 scale to test my dillon hoppers from time to time.

At 550$, i was under the impression the RCBS charge master combo would be put to good use

Looked up lyman gen 6, its 200$ cheaper than RCBS. Not a bad thing money wise, butni will have to compare reviews.
Hornady is out, already found too many bad reviews

Very tempted by natchez offer, i know if it doesnt work well i will be out of luck with returns.
But then again, i have purchased canadian with a a few retailers on this above forum (some have since dissapeared) and was just as much out of luck with faulty material

If the RCBS doesn't work well you don't have to deal with Natchetz. RCBS support is excellent. I have heard from others here that they were shipped replacements for their defective Chargemasters with instructions to destroy the original and send photographs of the debris.

I seen two for sale on E.E. Correction; One left: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...rgemaster-450-shipping?highlight=chargemaster

Also RCBS has a solid warranty... I had to deal with them when my power cable stopped working. No issues. It took about a week to get a new one in the mail, no charge.

Cheers,

I have a Pacific (Hornady lock n load ) measure set to 1/2 grain under with a dandy power trickler and a beam scale, I can load 50 350 Rem mag in 20 mins. faster than a $500 electronic thingamajig takes to warm up

Go with the rcbs I got mine in the master reloader kit when I started reloading and wouldn't trade it for the world. Before I got my progressive I loaded pistol rounds for two years with the single stage using only the charge master for powder, that combined with my rifle reloading has thrown literally over ten thousand charges and never had a problem in nearly 5 years of use.

Alright im sold, going for RCBS charge master, for the fact that i have positive warranty feedback.

I don't always buy the best products , but sometimes a no BS warranty is worth its chunk of gold. Thats why i have only used vortex scopes or dillon reloaders so far.

I agree with the 2 out of 3.... vortex :p
