Hi,
I just purchased a muzzle brake from one of the dealers and when I screw it on to where the pin and detent match, the brake is not all the way to the bottom and has play in it. I can only screw it down another half turn and it is snug but not properly indexed anymore. Ideas would be great.
Thanks

i assume you have a VZ58 pattern rifle? if it is, thats normal. if the slope bothers you, get an oring and tighten down the brake as before. the oring will tension the brake and keep it from moving.

alternatively, you could wrap the threads with teflon tape and tighten up the brake till it hits the detent. but now every time you remove the brake you'll need more tape.

Hmm...problem with my original reply. If you have an AR, did you put on a crush washer before putting on the muzzle break?

Sorry. It is a VZ 58. I was told I didn't need a washer as they indexed to the pin. I thought of removing some materiad from where the brake meets the barrel so I could get that last half turn down.

I have 2 Czech style brakes (6 holes up and 2 larger holes to the sides). One I got off e-bay from the Czech republic and it needed shimming on both the cz858 and the vz58. The other from Trade-ex indexed perfectly on the CSA vz58.
