Best single shot trap gun

I purchased a lightly used BT-99 mainly because it was available at the time and within my price range. I see no reason to leave in it the safe and look for something else.

The BT-99 fits me well, and I have seen them go well over 100,000 rounds, which is more trap than I will ever shoot. And over the years, I have shot with several people shooting very expensive Parazzi and Kreighoff shotguns, and the people that out shot me, were just better shots than I am. I also out shot several of those people with my lowly Brownings. As for single shot trap guns, I will likely never own one anyways, because I get bored shooting trap, if it's all wobble with no doubles.
 
I shoot a Silver Pigeon Grade BT99. 32" barrel with a soft touch recoill pad and adjustable cheek piece. Over 50,000 rounds through it and no signs of wearing out. After winning the 99 BC Pacific Champioship Handicap I was offered a sraight trade for a Keigoff which I declined. Haven't shot trap with it for over 15 years but can't bring myself to sell it!
 
HI; I took out a Stevens bolt action 50 dollar 12 gauge. That rattled one guy so bad he missed most bird, I guess it was because I only missed a couple. What fun.

Yes because if there is anything that rattles a shooter it's having someone stand on the line next to you with a $50 gun?! f:P:2:

I have been shooting skeet/trap for 38 years now and I can tell you from being the newbie on up to the experienced shooter that at no time did anyone's gun whether it was $50 or $50,000 effect my shooting or scores or any other shooters I know. What a load of H:S: but you go on believing whatever you wish.....

It's part of the Internet mythology. Scrappy gun owner takes old broken down gun and kicks the ass of the pros with the high dollar guns. I read about it often on the Internet but rarely see it in person.

The fishing equivalent is the kid with a stick, safety pin and string who catches more fish than the rich guy with expensive tackle.

The only time I get rattled on the line by someone else's gun is when he doesn't keep it pointed in the right direction or doesn't clear it when moving to the next station.

Exactly or is standing next to you and suddenly his ventilated heat shield falls off and his buddy rushes up to his aid in time to help grab the falling parts as the barrel suddenly falls free!! And this is not made up but thankfully I was watching that squad when that incident took place. The shooter was quite upset when the fellow looking after the club that night would not let him back on the field with that gun after reassembling it. He just couldn't grasp the fact it was felt his gun was unsafe and in need of looking at by a competent gunsmith.

I nip that in the butt immediately by asking prior to squadding if I notice a shooter with an autoloader if they use a shell catcher or remove their extractor? If they are running as is I just ask to have any autoloaders not posted immediately to the station left of me and if that can't happen I sit it out and resquad. Its an extremely rare case at a registered shoot as very few shoot auto's any more in registered and those that do have them configured only to eject hulls if shooting doubles, even rarer with auto shooters nowadays.
I don't get bothered by hulls landing around me or the odd one hitting me but when they are bouncing them off my gun I tend to get a bit miffed. I once had a shooter next to me get pissed at missing a target, removed his hull, threw it away in disgust and it bounced off the stock of my cherry Broadway Superposed leaving a dent and white mark in my stock. I was "rattled" that day!

The only time someone's gun hurt my scores was a guy shooting a short stocked bolt gun left handed. At first I felt bad and offered to let him use my gun. He wiped the blood from his nose and said no I got this. I was trying too hard not to laugh by mid round. Poor kid every time he pulled the trigger that bolt nailed him in the lip or nose


I prefer my Ithaca 4E trap myself but it's in need of repairs at the moment
