I've been advertising in the EE forums for a while but no one seems to want to sell me their G.33/40 yet.

How many of you fellas have one? Let's see some pics and hear some first hand reports.

I have only herd of one for sale, it sold last year at the calgary gun show for 2k, Ive asked around for g33/40's before, but few know what they are, nor have they seen any.

You can Import from the USA, that's another option.

Check this out Skippy. It ain't the G 33 But pretty damn close, and brand new I think. Go to Mitchall's Mausers.com to read up on the M63 Tanker. It comes in full on 8mm, 30.06 what ever... But this rifle is based off of the G 33design.

Pretty cool.:D

Yuck - mitchell's Mausers. Shudderrrrrrrrr...

G33.40's are uber-uncomon now as most were turned into sporting rifles for their nice actions.

You have to be very careful with the G33/40 as some of them are being "made up" from VZ24's with the receiver renumbered and relettered to G33/40. There have been a few Fake G33/40 on the auction sites lately in the US.

They do exist here Badger! Most of the G33/40's that I have seen in Canada are bolt mismatches. I'm drooling over the key board thinking
I might want to get one!

There is no practical way to fake a g33/40. One look at it and the buyer can see if it is real or not. Even owning a machineshop myself; it is not worth the time to try to reproduce what the germans did.... all the lightening cuts etc. way too much time involved. I can make easier money (and faster) doing legit work.

Believe it or not, it's happening on Gunbroker and Auctionarms with people bidding on Fake G33/40's.
To an untrained eye, if you don't know what you're looking for, you'll get burnt.

G33/40

I have one in my collection, a 1942. Norwegian re-issue so got the Norwegian serial# treatment. Issued to the Politi (Police), fortunately they retained its original 8X57 barrel and didnt re-barrel to .30-06 like my 41 BNZ. The G33/40 is a sweet little 98, see why so many got turned into sporter's in the U.S.
Found mine locally for $400 last year. First one I've seen in person to be honest. Gotta figure how to post pics someday.
