So I was busy breaking in my new 155 grain .312 mold for my 7.62x39. After a while I got some nice bullets and headed up stairs to figure out how to slap some gas checks on. Took my rubber mallet and pounded a few on. Now I was looking around for something to size/crimp the gas checks onto the bullet. I looked around. Then I remembered that I read somewhere that a feller used his lee factory crimp die to attach the gas checks. As I was rummaging around my bits and pieces I came across a red cylinder that looked brand new. As I spun it around it became painfully aware that it was a Lee .312 push through die.

Doh! Don't even remember buying it. I have either reached a new level in reloading or old age is starting to catch up to me.
Anyway decided to laugh at myself and the proceeded to check and size the few good bullets I got. Hope they shoot as well as they look.

I bought two LEE case expanders. Got the 2nd one because I forgot I had bought the first one. And now I can't find either of them...

I am in the same boat and I can't stop laughing at myself. I was all set to buy 243 dies for a rifle I am getting only to remember that I traded for a brand new set in Oct. I only realized this when I was looking for something else... the bullets that I had traded away.

I hear ya lol... Couldn't remember exactly where my Lee .223 case length gauge was so I figured I'd save myself 20-30 minutes of torment and just buy another one.
Now I'll have two I can't find when I need them!

Some times I am reminded of that squirrel on a cartoon I saw a while back. I go to hide a stash of ammo only to find a stash I have forgotten about.

My family will have tons of fun should I die unexpectedly. :)

What kam said I Think.....

Moved into a new house a year ago and still working on the toy room.
Can't find anything, I know where it should be, but finding where it should be is the issue.
If that makes any sense...

Buddy of mine just did a cleanout of his truck and at one point went "OH S***" it turned out some gopher ammo had made the trip with him to the states and back.

I'm in the same boat. I always give the truck a going over before crossing the border for gas.

I've found that I need to keep all my stuff out in the open on shelves where I can see everything. Otherwise, I forget I have stuff or where I put things. And I'm not just talking gun stuff.

Guitars/basses: that means strings, picks, pickups, knobs, tuners, and related gear that I have accumulated for proposed mods that will, probably for the most part, never happen but who knows.

Saxophones: that means reeds, chapsticks, ligatures, mouthpieces, neckstraps, etc.

Tactical, camping, fishing stuff.

So there's lots of stuff and if I don't see it, I forget I have it. And yes, I have sometimes gone out and bought stuff I already have. Sighs.

So could I use my factory crimp die to attach gas checks to bullet barn 165gr hard cast beveled base bullets for 30-30? Or do they need to be cast to accept checks?
