Another member suggested those when I asked, but he's had two and both developed cracks in them. Not sure if he's resolved anything, maybe he'll chime in....

I'd like one but for the price I'd like the assurance that it won't break. They look good, a more accurate repro than the 5.5" version I have.

(pic stolen from his post, hope he doesn't mind)

Funny, same thing happened to mine as well. After only eight rounds, this is what it looked like.

I sent it back to CTC, and am waiting for the outcome from them and the OEM.

I've been asked by CTC to send them back, which I'll be doing this week. Beyond that, no results yet.

ASIDE FROM THAT...Brownells sells an XM177 brick and says they'll ship to Canada.

It seems kinda odd, but I'd bet that them being made of 17-4PH stainless is the cause.

It's a very hard wear resistant stainless but comparatively may be more brittle than 4140 or whatever else is common in flash hiders. The fact that there is a large open chamber for it to resonate inside could cause the steel to stress fracture at that point (where it would be the stiffest)

Thanks for the tip on the Brownells unit, just ordered two. The price is good, even with shipping and exchange. I was going to cut my 5.5" down and re-slot it but if these new ones make it across the border it'll go in the parts bin.

I tried ordering one from Brownells, no problem getting them here...but it is a flash hider/ muzzle device which is a controlled item so I would have to pay $250 to the sate dept, and file an end user report.

So I chose this route. Still waiting to hear back from CTC. I'm going with an A1 FH on my build.

Isn't it a matter of whether or not the manufacturer has registered with the state dept for exporting? I don't think its at Brownells' end of it. Could be wrong though, that's what the rep I spoke to told me. Wasn't worth it for me to pay the 250 fee.

Mind you, I just ordered a few FH from these guys, and they shipped to Canada with none of the BS

Not sure what the issue is with Brownells

I've ordered from II before and plan on doing another bulk parts order. Good products.

I noticed yesterday that their website says they'll have a non-Form 3 XM flashhider by mid-January, so I'm looking forward to that.

Buy it. Ship it to Clay's exporter. Clay at Prophet has really reasonable prices on exported parts. He only charged me $10+GST on a FH.

The Griffin comps are still in the process of getting set down state side. ITAR process complicates the warranty/return process because it needs to be cleared under 22CFR 123.4(a)(1)
