I was just looking had my safe and was mildly surprised to see that I own exactly one handgun that was purchased new (a STI 1911). When I checked my log book I see I have had 4 other "bought new" guns in the past but they were sold after a few months. So, just slightly more than 95% of my handguns were purchased used.

Is this fairly normal or am I the odd man out when it comes to this?

(I will admit I am naturally drawn to classic guns and thus, much of what I own is anywhere from 30 to 100 years old)

90% used, only 2 or 3 actually NIB but lots in As New condition. saves a lot of cash! And to Sailor's point, I've bought a lot of old pistols that aren't made anymore.

I have bought and sold my fair share on the EE. Though I prefer buying new, sometimes you can lightly used guns that you cannot resist...

I don't specifically shop for or need, new or used. Important criteria is price to condition ratio. Besides, most used guns I am interested in happen to be available on the EE in slightly used condition. Only 20% of my current inventory were bought BNIB, 50% in very slightly used condition and the balance were in very good condition or refurbished.

After all, once I fire it, even one round, it is technically a used gun.
