That arrived July last year. No point in Rushing

^oh so slowly and carefully taking this project apart and praying the whole time I don,t shear off screws or find threaded holes striped, or even worse a screw sheared and rusted in place. And amazingly every single threaded hole was 100% good, clean up the dirt and crap and all was right in my world for this item.

^ All apart and the restoration begins, I like these small and simple jobs to do over the winter but to be truthful I had most done by the fall as I could not help myself. The only hold up was, and this is a huge shout out to Jason at Gunco, a great guy who does great work who had all my tiny screws and springs for hot bluing, he called yesterday that they where done and I was able to really finish assemble the lamp.

True DAD. This lamp was dug up out of the ground somewhere in Russia where every vendor swears its an authentic piece of equipment that had fought at Kursk-Moscow-Stalingrad.

A-MEN TO THAT!!! I purchase quite a bit of recovered relics from the 'electronic flea market'. The one I always get a laugh out of is "Authentic Bunker Find".

Looking forward to your restoration process, keep up the good work.

Thanks all, and now the exciting conclusion.

^ Exterior after and for some reason the correct DunkelGrau (RAL 7021) came out looking blue with the flash, I am disappointed with the pic but certainly not the Notek Body. There where two versions of Notek bodies, early cast pot metal and later stamped sheet metal. This body held up super well and even the thin cast partition between the bulb chambers held up, it has some pitting but I can certainly live with it.

^Interior after

Czechoslovakia made a domestic copy of the German Notek post war that is dimensionally the same size and sort of looks "Notekish" the beauty of them are the lens are exact copies and I raided a CZ "notek" I had for bits and pieces that made the original complete and functional.

^ installed on the "tombstone" , the two lens are for non tactical driving with the brake light on the right side and driving light/lens to the left (an original Notek lens), the small hole in the cover is so a brake light will still be visible (with cover down) when driving in tactical mode.

^ the four green lens are displayed and used for tactical driving and are used to determine distance.

Between 300 to 35 Meter you will see one green light
between 35-25 Meter following vehicles see two green lights and
between 25 to zero meters following vehicles would see all four.
It may not be "factory new" and perfect so its just like an iceberg where 95% is not seen, nor will be seen.... unless they are on CGN.

Reminds me of my first night drive. Instructor said if you see the light in front of you do a twist and disappear to just hit the brakes, because someone probably drove into a ditch. Course before mine, apparently 3 iltis all went in and got stuck. No one hurt.
