Yes this is another of these, what should i do pieces, the whole story is long, the short one, i discovered that im not revolver guy, so back to square one, only this time i want to make sure i choose well, my first pistol was M&P 9 and i teally didn't like it, wobly slide, just the whole thing didn't feel like quality at all,i have budget and its not big so here is my choice!!

Iwi 941- looks good on paper, never shoot it

Walter PPX ' well its walter, reliable, german engineering

Sig p250- only shoot the 320 and love it but the DAO trigger in 250 is kind of turn off for me

Canik tp 9fs teally good reviews so far, looks well made, but i never shoot it either.

These are my choices, so if anybod own the pistol in question, please tell your unbiased opinion.I'll really appreciate it.cheers.
 
Those are some of your choices new. Of them I've only tried the IWI - Good gun for the money but I dislike slide mounted controls. Another to consider in that price range is the Bersa Thunder 9, a very good gun for the money. All that to say, if it were me, I'd be looking used for a CZ85. Should be able to find a nice one for $600-650 if patient. Reasonable trigger, nice adjustable sights, excellent ergos, great aftermarket.

Personally found the ppx a little 'meh'...well built and all...as others have stated the 941 slide mounted safety is a bit of a shame...otherwise a very decent pistol....havn't shot the fs...but the sa is a very fine budget pistol with a great trigger, also underrated..and finally ...the sig..I wouldn't choose the 250 over the 320... the p320 has a very decent trigger and is dead nuts accurate...in the end it depends what you want to do with it....
 
I had pretty much the same options. The p250 is on sale atm so I picked it up. I don't mind double action triggers at all. Apparently the p250 gives smith and Wesson a run for there money for a double action trigger. I guess I'll find out

I hope yours comes better than mine............... Granted, I got it for $467 shipped to my door. I paid $150 for 2 extra mags for a total of 4. I like everything else about the pistol, so we'll see how it shoots tomorrow I hope.

I suspect it will lighten up after shooting. And with most any double action, staging the trigger helps you shoot more accurately
 
I've shot the Canik and the PPX, I would go with the Canik if it was my choice, do yourself a favour and look at the FN Herstal FNS9LS, I have no experience with the Sig, but I truly believe the FNS is a far superior gun than the Canik or PPX, and in the same price range. My buddy and I have compared the Canik and FNS head to head and both of us agree the FNS is a far superior build quality. fN make military weapons for 80 or so countries, I don't know why, whether it's lack of advertising, but the FN is one of the least known and truly underrated pistols out there. I have close to 3000 rounds thru mine and it looks brand new, and is easily on par with any other handgun I have shot in the sub $1000 category, and better than most

That has not been my experience. Nor does it seem to jive with any other of the more consistently accurate DA trigger shooters I know. And I know a lot of good revolver shooters that shoot primarily in DA mode.

In fact I've seen a lot more poor shooting done by folks that stage the trigger in DAO semis and DA revolvers than I have those that stage and shoot well. Smooth and continuous wins out (mostly, there's always some rare exception) every time. Staging is a bad habit to get into.


Gungeek, there's that whole story about "buy once, cry once". Being on a snug budget is one thing. But buying and selling guns because you keep finding out that the cheap ones are just, well, "cheap" ends up being its own kind of expensive. Besides, if you shoot much at all you'll quickly shoot more cost of ammo through the gun than what the gun itself costs. So don't be afraid to open up the budget a little to get a lot better gun. In looking around and reading a lot of posts from handgun owners it seems like the "sweet spot" for best bang for the buck seems to occur at around $600 to $900. But this range really does not include Sig which tends to be priced higher for any of their better models. And it also seems to be a rare gun in the lower end of that range which marks off all the check boxes.

From what you've posted I'd feel pretty safe in suggesting that you'd like the Jericho or a CZ 75b.

The Walther might not be as nice as you think. The Walther I tried had one of the worst "rubber band" feeling triggers that I think I've ever had to pull. And I was not alone in that feeling. Some others there shooting it at the same time commented on this as well. The nicest thing that was said about it among the 5 or 6 in the group was that it was OK.

I have a PPX range kit for a few months and I like it very much. Already 600 shots on it. The three steel magazines that come in a range kit are made in Italy and look gorgeous. The fit and finish are excellent. The pistol fits my hand like a glove. For me that hump at the grip works very well. The trigger pull is a dream. My PPX eats any type of ammo like the PMC Bronze, Blazer Brass, WASP re-loads, FOC low recoil and just name it. Never had any hiccups. It seems to me that the PPX range kit represents one of the best values for the money among handguns chambered in 9mm Luger. Tenda Canada still has a PPX range kit on sale for $499.
