Anyone ever done it before? Looking to do it on mine but don't want to use anything on it that'll take off the finish.

Yeah, there are a ton of videos. I thought I heard somewhere that the acetone can damage the finish on them and don't want that to happen. That's my main concern.

Acetone won't damage the finish, I use it to clean up and prep C7s and C8s for stuff.

Grease pencil would work as well.

I've used acetone to remove paint from ARs. No damage to the finish.

I'm really, really happy with how it looks. Just need to figure out how to get the excess paintfill off from around the letters without taking any out of them, lol.

If the stampings are a bit deep it's easy to fill the letters and numbers with paint and then wipe off the excess since your rag will not go into the letters or numbers anyway, leaving the paint in there. That's how I do it, anyway.

If you use enamel paints, I've found isopropyl alcohol on a firmly folded piece of paper towel will be gentle enough to remove the surplus paint with little impact to what's in the roll marks. If you use acetone to remove the surplus, it's too aggressive and the fumes alone will soften up the paint and you will end up pulling more paint out of the roll marks.
