Hey, I have read a lot about these optics and every review has perfect scores. I am just wondering if there are any TT owners that could give some imput. Are they worth the money? If you could go back would you buy again?

I have a 5-25 and it is simply the best scope I own, and I own a few high end scopes including a S&B PM 2 and a premier heritage. The glass is second to none the zero stop is the easiest in the industry to use and reset. The turrets and the best I've used very crisp and autable. The tracking is perfect and it holds it zero perfectly. It has a very heavy price tag on it but imho it is the best. That all being said the S&B is a close second and is less so at the end of the day it's a tough choice. Also take into consideration that it is made in Canada and has a life time warranty and S&B is not and does not. I think the best warranty out there is the one that's never needed.

I also have a TT525. I'll second that it's the best scope I've ever used. It beats my S&B's, March, Zeiss Victory and Premier hands down in every respect. It is simply the finest scope out there in terms of clarity, ergonomics and function. End of story.

I have a 3-15 model and it is awesome. The turetts function better than anything else I have experienced. I know the president of TT and he is a great shooter and regularly competes in f class and FTR. He uses the 3-15 model himself as opposed to the 5-25 even though high magnification is the more popular choice now. He is pretty obsessed with delivering the very best quality possible and nothing leaves his door unless he believes it is perfect.

I've owned all the above mentioned. My TT 5-25 had the finish wear off the turret after a couple month of heavy use. Other than that they are rock solid. That said if you're going to shell out that kind of bread I suggest you look long and hard at Hensoldt. Not many guys own them but those who do will never own another brand, me included. I've sold most of my scopes and replaced them with Henny's. I would rank them easy above TT and S&B. Just my .02$ If you're looking for a dealer I think Tactical imports carried them. They are IMO the highest quality scopes money can buy on the civilian market.

I TOO HAVE OWNED ALL THREE.....and
I have to strongly disagree with this opinion and here is why. I had 4 Hensoldts here about a year ago( all brand new). 3 out of the 4 were defective . The 4th was a fantastic scope but I had no confidence at that point and returned it. 75% failure rate is an absolute joke given the price of these scopes.
Also they only have a 1 year warranty. That's right ONE YEAR ...TT is LIFETIME ....
It seems since Zeiss sold the Hensolt line to Airbus a few years ago they let quality control go down the toilet.
Where Hensolt is miles ahead of other scopes in in the eyebox. Optically the TT is better overall , brighter and mechanically far superior in their design.

I was told by TT at SHOT that they are the only manufacturer that passed the cold test at -20C. They test them all the way down to -40C and they still work. But personally I wouldn't be shooting at those temps. lol.

A lot of good info here.

I fallowed the T.T development carefully with hopes that one day I will be supporting a Canadian company and Canadian product.
My line of thinking changed quickly... when the scope overnight jumped from $2k-$3k to $5k+.

In my opinion once you get into tier 1 price bracket...the law of diminishing returns pokes it's ugly head!

I completely agree.. Once they hiked their prices above $4500 I think they shot themselves in the foot....

At one point over a certain price point, it should be issued and you should not have to pay that much for some extreme features... ;)

I really wish I had spent more time with the TT ( I had a loaner from Omer at PSS for review ) as, while I thought it was really a very good scope, I was not completely knocked out of the park to the point that I thought it was worth what they were, at that time, asking which was a mere $5300. Very nice ergonomics and glass of course but......

Maybe I will get to use one again and be more sold on them ? Meanwhile while I am considering a second Razor HD II 4.5-27 or the NF ATACR 7-35 for my new 6.5-47 I will struggle along with my S+B Pmii. First World problems eh LOL.

I've been following this thread as I too have been intrigued by a top-tier scope made in Canada (and also just how a scope gets to cost $5000+). Does anyone know where they source the lenses? My guess is that, although expensive to procure, the lenses and their treatment (polishing and coating) probably aren't be biggest contributor to the extreme cost of these scopes. I'm guessing that the main contributor is the labour costs involved in small parts manufacture and assembly here in Canada.

^Spoke with them at SHOT, glass are from Germany.

Spoke with a friend that has been to their factory, he told me they have a fairly stringent QC. They would toss out scopes that are near-perfect but are not perfect.

The truth is, any of these Tier A scope will be more than enough for 99% of the shooters out there... I mean gee if someone can win a bolt gun match with a Bushnell Elite Tactical scope...

I don't know what they're tests consist of, no clue at-all, (but) I can attest the Hensoldt's 100% work when it's -35C... me & the boys have been out more during winter in those temperatures to ring gongs than in any other temperatures the rest of the year. We work on farms & ranches, and typically the worst weather days are the only days we really get free. Anyway, on every outing, elevation/windage/parralax adjustment/mag-ring movement ALL were easy to work in those temps, adjustments to 1610 yards & various distances between were ALL just as good as they are on "sane-condition" days when weather is not at an extreme.. no fogging, or concerns of any sort were ever present in the glass either. Also will mention that we spend entire afternoons with our equipment out there in those conditions, so it isn't just an in & out exposure... Kestrels & Rangefinders are the only gear that gets sensitive past about -18..

So; Not knocking tangent by any means, but for them to say they're the only ones that function in a Cold test is pure & 100% marketing. Hensoldt (of all'a them) is an equal to a Tangent in functionality & reliability. Biggest plus (in my mind) to Tangent is just that they are Canadian, that-is a product we can be proud to be engraved with our flag... but that BS about being the only one that works in the cold, I mean c'mon you guys, do you not expect a 'Rep' to tell you things like that(?)
