I know the French Mas guns are fetching some good prices lately but this one blew my mind. Looks like Excellent condition but with all fees in the guy paid $2400 CAD!
Might be persuaded to trade MINE for a Ruger #1 or S&W 460........maybe! Afraid of Hyper-linking infractions so just remove the space in 'ww w'

I bought mine 25 years ago, new in a waxed cotton bag with all the paper work from the arsenal in "Clermont-Ferrand".
Was around $200 and the waxed bag burned really well in my wood stove :)
The rifle is long gone, guess should have kept it as an investment.

Ever thought that this particular rifle might not be just a rifle to the buyer. I remember seeing someone on this board looking for a particular SMLE because it was issued to his family member. Who knows.

I've got relatives in C-F. Never knew about the arsenal. I thought it was most famous for Michelin tires!

That might be true, but it takes at least two bidders to drive a price THAT high. Yes, he bid $2100, but who bid $2000?

The MAS36 I had couldn't hit the paper! The only way I could figure out was to get a stash of backsight slides with the holes in different places.

Once again I've had the Mas on the brain so I decided to dig it out of storage. Having only looked at it once or twice after buying it I was curious to see just how great the condition was. Well, after finding it and freeing it from its protective jammies....(I use old track pants on my cherished rifles to protect from kisses). Bazowie!!! My jaw dropped. I had forgotten the amazing condition of this rifle. Time to go over it before a quick oil and re-wrap. It looks new. The crisp stamp on the stock says Novembre 1958. Not a blemish anywhere. I then noticed two little buttons on the magazine. Pop! mag release. OMG. Not even a mark on the mag follower! So much for shooting THIS baby. I figure that if this rifle has made it this long without being fired who am I to pop its cherry. This one is to be admired and hopefully let be. A little oil bath and back into the comfys! Nighty-night cherie!
