Hi Guys,

I had a ballistics app on my phone but I was a little miffed that amazon found it necessary to load their own software along side it. I chose to unload the amazon app and then the ballistics app stopped functioning. total PmO. I called amazon , got my money back and haven't gone looking for another since. I really don't need extra installed software taking up space on my phone... monitoring spying listening.... logging data.. etc.. call me paranoid but yeah. Amazon didn't need to have their crap loaded to make this app work. So...

My question is...
How many of you guys have one? Which one? is there one that doesn't side load some other app/program I have no need of?
do the apps really do do what they are supposed to do? i have no exp. with them. I unloaded it before I had a chance to apply the formulae and physics...

I posted this here since I figured that knowing what your bullet is doing will allow you to reach out with a better chance of precision as well as have usable info on hand for some of those tricky shots.

Anyway, I welcome advice or suggestions. Thanks muchly. Oh and Im on an android platform..

cheers! mr.J

I use Strelok Pro on my Android and it works great. I even contacted the developer and asked if he could add a particular scope and reticle to the app and he did!
I think paid under $15 for the Pro version.

I'm BlackBerry still, so very limited. Amazon App store is now pre loaded and not a choice to delete, so I was able to use "shooter"

The request it asked for made sense, they even listed why they needed access to some things. Sure the can go further but let's face it, it's not a matter of who does and doesn’t track and gather information on you anymore.... its who tells you they are doing it and who hides it.

I did check though, the app works in airplane mode so it isn't relying on the connection. Just have to plug in data manually or Bluetooth kestrel and just shut down connection, saves power.

I was big on info security, but came to the realization it's not really a thing anymore if you want the ease of use stuff found on th web

I use Sterlok, Applied Ballistics, Kestrel Companion, and Norma Ballistics.

Once I find the time I will be testing Geoballastics mentioned by mebiuspower and FrankieT.

waaaoh!
Lots of choices... Looks like I have my hands full.

I think it was "shooter" that I had.. Id just rather not deal with amazon period. Every time I go there or get rerouted to some sight, the prices are min. 10x's the going rate of any other place. Im not sure how that works.. but anyway..

Looks Like I have 2 for Geoballistics... I will start there..

Thanks a lot Fellows, I appreciate the input. Off to the candy store!

10 minutes later..... I see that geoB is for iOS... I am Android... dammit. Next!

There is a free version of Strelok for Android available from the Google Play store. Try it out, you have nothing to loose!

That's awesome! I use the free version of Strelok right now. What's the different between the free and the pro version do you know??

As I recall the free version only allows you one rifle at a time in the database? And the free version doesn't get updates anymore. There are two paid versions Strelok+ and Streylok Pro. The Play store describes them. The full meal deal Strelok Pro is a deal in my mind for about $16 bucks.

I've used Isnipe and now use Ballistic AE which I much prefer. Once trued up (which is easy to do) I've found it to be spot on out to 1140 yards or so. I use it when shooting matches in the States so there's no problem using it in airplane mode. I have it on my Iphone but it's available on Android as well. I'm a big fan. I've heard that the Applied Ballistics app is great as well on Android but not so much on Iphones.

Strelok pro here and looks very nice
Will input my .22 cz452 data shortly and try to send a round down to 200 to ring (or splash on and cause no reaction) a gong!

Rugby Dave brought up a good point . You need to true the ballistic s (for fine tuning)by putting your info in as close as you can then if you find its a bit off at longer ranges (try as far as you can say 300-400-500) then if it's off a bit correct by changing the velocity imput so it matches what the bullet shows you - then save and print for a cheat sheet on the gun stock ( my system )

Too many good inputs to quote you all. Thanks very much indeed. One and all!

Im looking at the Strelok thing and have another window open on the applied ballstics..

AP looks legit.. -since they offer stuff on a number of different playing fields.. Not much sure I like the ego trip " military or law enforcement" only app thing . that seems kinda bogus to me. Also the cost... I mean.. I'd like to know its justified.

I think I will try Strelok first.. See how that works out.

There was something else I wanted to ask but I think i brain farted it out into the wind... Hopefully I can remember... its was something worthwhile.
