Good morning CGN!

I have some friends that are Ontario Residents that I would like to invite on a good Turkey Hunt this Spring. The only problem is that we live in Northern Ontario and have never hunted turkeys before. I would need to travel somewhere in Southern Ontario and would likely be looking at hunting one weekend.

Are there any outfitters that you would recommend I contact for this?

Please let me know at your earliest convenience as I would like to begin laying the ground work for this now.

Also, any advice or constructive criticism would be appreciated. I'm pretty green at turkey hunting.

Best regards,

Slooshark1

Kyle at Southern limits outfitters
He has a Facebook page.
He runs out Dunville way and has a great area with near 100 percent success rates.
Great guy.he does water fowl hunts as well as turkey

Wing feather outfitters is top notch. I would not delay on booking as it's getting a bit late to book an outfitter, I'm sure most still have openings but.............

Wing feather outfitters out of walkerton is where all my buddies go.

I've hunted with Wingfeather twice. Top shelf! I don't think I can ever go anywhere else. They did an awesome job. They work relentlessly to get you your birds.

I've hunted with Ron at Irish Creek Outfitters twice and will be again this year. He works hard to get birds in front of you and I was successful both hunts. He has access to 7000 acres of private land around Jasper ON and there are lots of birds. They have a web page (Irish Creek, not the birds).

They are stand up guys too, we had a hunt booked just after Christmas and the weather turned really crappy (rain and fog) so they cancelled instead of taking us to sit in a wet foggy field all day hahah...he said he would take us but figured it would be wasting our money.

Never used them but live in Jasper ON myself, have 100 acres and so do my two neighbors. Birds cross my yard almost daily in the winter they sleep in my overhangs. Great eating and there are some biggins out here. Enjoy your trip nothing like taking a 50-60 yard full choke shot at such a small target. This spring I'm gonna pull out my new bow and give that a try.

Anyone aware of the changes to turkey regulations? They have discontinued the turkey seal and made it available as a straight charge for the tag

Nice country around there, prime turkey land. I use a 20g and we try and bring them in closer, 25 yards last spring. I have a friend who has been bow-hunting them for years. He's crazy successful too.

Never could have. They have not discontinued the turkey tag , they discontinued the turkey coarse in which is now connected to the hunters safety coarse.

I just received my re-newed Outdoors Card and the "T" is gone.

Wing feather ..... Luke and his gang are awsome .... been hunting with him for 6plus years....me ...girlfriend...dad ...brother
Good to go .... and when you get to know them abit ... you can have a great laugh with them too!!!
I travel from Sudbury

You can also do it yourself.

Spot birds, knock on doors, get set-up, call them in and shoot... when that doesn't work, do it again...

Our first year hunting turkeys, we had no leads on where to go and just drove down to turkey country and "winged it" (pun intended). In short order, we found birds, and shortly after that we got permission. My son and I both took toms... every year we add a property or two by scouting/door knocking.... we loose a property now and again as relatives of landowners take up the sport, but we have a dozen properties available in our rota and they all consistently hold birds.

Hunting with an outfitter would be a crash course in how to go about it, but it is very doable on your own... it is an option, even in year one.
