The new 18" Anschutz 1712

I just wanted to give a huge shout out to Clay and the gang at Prophet River for making this an awesome buying experience. Not only was Clay able to secure me a wonderful rifle he allowed me to cherry pick one of the favorites from his incoming supply of new 18” Anschutz 1712’s that made it into Canada. Clay was able to check his incoming supply and secure my rifle and give me a wicked price all from his phone while on the way to the 2017 Shot Show. His team was able to receive the shipment and separate mine and have it shipped and delivered all in a matter of days. Less than a week from the first email sent, to sitting at home with a wonderful hand select Anschutz 1712! This was my third deal with Prophet river and was again a true pleasure to deal with, both for price (awesome) and service!

I got lucky with the wood as eight of the 1712's had been sold prior to me seeing any pictures. I was very lucky to get this one! I have a CZ455 with a Lilja barrel and a folding stock that wont be seeing any use now that this arrived. Time for a safe cleanout!

The plan is to get it sighted in ASAP and I am hoping the targets come back with great sub .3" news at 50y. Will be giving the Gophers nightmares, both with the 1712 and my 1727F!

IDMX, how'd that lilja barreled 455 shoot?

Lilja guarantees them to shoot less than 1 MOA at 50 yards, typical groups in the 0.3's and 0.4's. What I'm interested in is what year of manufacture that Lilja is, and what contour?

Had a great day out in the fog and snow. The temp scope mount is too high so had trouble with a proper cheek rest. Will take a bit to get sorted out but it shows great promise!

Mine –best 5rd groups were .223” at 50y with FGMM, .224” at 50y with CenterX and .307” at 50y with SK

Range time in the snow

Best with a regular 1712 in a MDT chassis and trigger work was .147” at 50y with CenterX. Helps with a proper cheek rest! Hoping mine will do as good!

My CZ455 has a pre 2013 straight profile .9" match Lilja on it and it would shoot very nice as well. I should try it with the CenterX now that I have some "better quality" ammo. It is heavier than the 1712 by a pound or two just because of the fat match barrel.

I like the wood on that 1712 Iceman! Looks sharp! Was yiur barrel centered nicely in the barrel channel? Some of Anschutz guns are comin not centered in the barrel channel

Thanks, Its great to have a nice spot for all the gear! I had to share time at a bench with one other as it was getting crowded, but still a great day out shooting.

Thanks, I think you got the best one for the wood stock! I have no issues with mine for being centered. Did you try loosen the bolts and re-torque it? Might have been off in the original setting.

Your welcome! Thanks man. No mine is centered. Somebody else's was crooked tho as well as his new 1727. Sucky. The bluing on mine has grey circles and blotches on the Barrel that refuse to come off.

CZ455's are a great mid range rifle, Anschutz would be my top pick for top end rifles!

That sounds bad! Do you have a picture of that? Mine it just perfect with the finish and wood as was my 1727F!

2/3 CZ's I've handled and shot had serious accuracy issues, but yeah everything else about them besides the accuracy is pretty good. Great platform to custom build off of. Like you, I also got a Lilja barrel for mine but one of the newer ones with the Bentz chamber. It has turned out to be a dud, some CZ factory barrels are much better than it! Then I had a situation where a "gunsmith" performed unwanted work on it, caused damage to it and refused to fix it. Left me with a $1300 (after cost of repairs elsewhere) damaged (lathe marks pressed into sides of barrel, had to re-polish the whole barrel as well), dud Lilja + $660 original rifle price... Should have just bought the Annie!!!! My settlement conference at small claims court is next Friday with this guy... wish me luck hoping the deputy judge talks some sense into him, he seems hellbent on going to a full trial and based on the evidence I have against him... his only option to mitigate his loss here is to settle with me outside court.

Ouch that sounds like a rough time. Hope you get a fair settlement! All my CZ's have been great, one regular barrel, one DIP complete bench build with a Lilja and my current Lilja one. Hope your next rifle shoots great! Give me a PM after your court settlement!
