Anyone buy a Italian police surplus berreta from lever in Vancouver? ?

They are for sale in my area from $499.00 to 599.00. I turned down as you can buy last years CZ Shadow SP01 for under $900.00. I would actually buy a brand new Jericho all steel for the $150.00 more and have a brand new gun....that's just me. I thought they are overpriced for a used pistol and I wanted a Beretta originally. Actually that Jericho is looking more and more attractive to me......

For a used Pistol.....the ones I seen are not mint and overpriced. JMHO

The same money gets you a Girsan, brand new. I have one as well as the 92A1 and the Girsan gives nothing away to the Beretta IMHO.

It's a 92s , but yeah I've decided against it , if it was 300 sure but and it's Double action only ewww

Maybe do more research it's da/sa......didn't get mine at lever though....internals near perfect.

"It incorporated increased ammunition capacity through the use of a double-column magazine and the application of a double-action/single-action (DA/SA) system of trigger operation"

If you want Italian beretta this is it, cool history to boot. Only holster wear on mine and minty(just to get everyone going) insides.

If you want Turkish by all means buy it but remember that's the copy, you want original.

It looks like your local too and your more then welcome to give mine a go at the range there and see yourself...it's pretty sweet.

sorry for my ignorance i asked an old gun guy i work with what he thought and he told me it was DOA i have now done some reading and have found the truth!!! and thanks for the offer to let me try yours , i am a purist in the sense that i dont buy cheap copies of firearms i would always buy the original. The only handgun i have is a glock 17 and i was just thinking about getting somthing different that can shoot 9mm and i was wondering if the price is fair for a surplus.

Although I didn't buy one, they're nice guns. The mag release is a killer for a lot of people, throws off the ergonomics and the choice of cheap magazines. The price also gets close to a brand new Girsan which gets pretty good reviews.

To say Girsan is a cheap copy is a bit disingenuous. The Grisans are used by the Turkish Army as well as several of their security and police services. They are well made, dare I say, as well made, as the Berettas. Where they do differ from what I can see from the pictures as they have somewhat better sights than the early Berettas which may or may not be of a concern. On that I may well be wrong but the sights appear to be the early small dights popular back in the day. Remember you can only change the rear sight on either make as the front sight is part of the slide.

I own both and frankly there is not a ounce of sunlight between the two pistols as far as the build quality. I like you prefer to have the Beretta but Beretta does not make the Centurian version of the 92 anymore and because of that the Girsan Compact has some appeal.

The heel based mag release found on the 92S is a deal breaker for me. It would not be if I was a collector..unfortunately I am not hence I have little interest in the gun at the asking price for a surplus gun. Good luck with the gun if you decide to purchase it. It should be a good shooter, the Beretta designs have excellent reputations.

Sights would be my only complaint......the heel mag release is actually not too bad you can still keep a sight picture and firing grip for mag changes with the free hand.

Magazines are available too new ones are made with a cut for both mag releases.

Pros and cons....for me it's a iconic firearm that both collectable and shoot able.

It just points right and has a good fit to my hand and good ergonomics imo.
