My 92FS is easily my favourite pistol to shoot. It just fits my hand and makes it easy to shoot well. For the past year or so I've been toying with swapping out the grip panels to dress it up a bit - something to make it a bit more personal.

But nothing I could find really jumped out and said "these are the ones."

Until I came across these... Hand made in Peru out of spalted rosewood. Very unique. As it was mid November, I passed the link to my wife and told her this is what she was getting me for Christmas.

Christmas came and went, and no new grips. Oh well, life goes on. Turns out, they were in Customs limbo (not shocking for something getting shipped from Peru). They finally arrived today, and they're as beautiful as I had hoped they would be. Christmas came late, but a nice way to cheer a fella up on a cold late January day.

Looks good, I like the look of wood grips on just about any pistol. Recently added some spalted Guapinolillo ones to my Ruger SR1911.

Some other nice examples in here.

Something about black/blued steel and wood that just looks right.

Saaaawwwwweeeeettttt.

Love the look.

Who males them - link to site would help.

Search evil-bay for "spalted wood grips" - it's a whole cottage industry in Costa Rica and Peru. Every pair is a one off.

If you go to ebay and type in CZ grips, or Beretta grips, or Colt grips you will find a large selection of grips, some of which are at a low price. I have bought wood grips for a number of pistols at less than $20 a set.

As much as some people like to rag on ebay, and sending money off-shore, you can get some great deals on wood and leather products on ebay.

I get most of my gun leather from ebay, and now I'm keeping an eye for custom wood. In both cases, quite often you find that it's small artisans from very disadvantaged parts of the world, busting their butt to try and earn a bit of money and using ebay to reach a global market. I have no trouble supporting someone in those circumstances.

I had a real nice set of rosewood (?) grips for a 586, very well done, only trouble come with the differences in the humity levels, there was some warp in them.
BTW , most of the stuff called rosewood these days is not Rosewood.
If it is real rosewood , you have to be very careful working on them, "Real" rosewood can be very toxic to some people.
