So... I'll admit, I am a bullpup afficianado. I played airsoft in my younger days for about fifteen years straight... and went through nearly ten of my favourite gun - the AUG.

Well, we can't get that in Canada - and I fancy myself a bit of a tinkerer, so what kits can I get for what semi-auto guns out there? I've seen some fairly passable SKS bullpup variants, but I was wondering if there is anything else that gets a little bit closer to the Aug-ly goodness I so desire?

I'm a little out of touch with the law, but I think bullpup kits are illegal in the great white north. Gotta buy factory designed bullpups like the T97 or Tavor. Someone will be along shortly to give a definitive yea or nay.

PROHIBITED DEVICES
Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9
2. Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the type known as the “bull-pup” design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position.

However, if the stock has nothing to do with it, it is legal. So a folded stock and a coat hanger = instant bullpup satisfaction.

Forum Etiquette note: "What kinds of bullpup conversion kits can I buy in Canada?" is FRIDAYS ONLY.

Any conversion bullpup stock is illegal in Canada, only rifle design as a bullpup and can't function without the stock are legal.

Thanks Guys - very helpful! So I'm pretty much limited to the norinco or tavor? Any cooler bullpup options??

whats that one Juster?

Oh - also interested in the non-restricted variants over the restricted ones - I'd prefer to be able to shoot outside and not be constantly range-bound!

Tanfoglio Apeal in .22
Bushmaster M17 in .223
Keltec RFB in .308
Norinco K12 Puma in 12 gauge
FN 2000 in 5.56
GM6 Lynx in .50bmg
Norinco Type 88 in 5.56
Keltec KSG in 12 gauge
UTAS UTS15 in 12 gauge
PS90 in 5.7x28
T97 in 5.56
Tavor in 5.56
Tavor X95 in 5.56

PS90 and FN 2000 will need to have barrels converted to non restricted length. Otherwise the rest listed are non restricted. Some rifles will be harder to find in Canada. The X95 will be available in a months time.

I had NO IDEA about the P90. Insane! is it fairly readily available in Canada?

Am i right in thinking you just can't hunt larger game with a .223 anyway? 0.23 calibre or above?
i.e. the only one to hunt deer with, would be the RFB?

The PS90 can be obtained. It might take a few months to get one. Also it would be restricted until you get it rebarreled. It is a wholy inadequate rifle for deer by the way. The RFB is the most adequate rifle for deer from the list posted above. One of the shotguns shooting a slug out to 100 meters is also viable. The rest on the list though might be legal I would not use.

Here is a thread regarding the .223 for deer that was being discussed earlier this week. I for one wouldn't use that caliber. It might be illegal to use that caliber where you want to anyways for deer.

Wow - I didn't realize there were so many available in Canada - thanks for the list Ebola!

Take your time to learn about gun law, gun basics and hunting basics. You got great hints here already, use them.

Could not resist the classic:
