Man i hate this reloading hobby.

Just ordered lee C312-155-2R mold.

Ordered dies last week

Brass cases also inbound. Gas check supply is aluminum and endless since i made a die.

Since this is another .30 cal i will be figuring out how IMR3031 and IMR4895 eill work.

Bullets will be cast from WW and powder coated. Project for after hunting season.

The 7.62x39 shoots well with cast! I have been shooting a 200 grain 311299 with Varget. It shoots great( under 2" at 100), and around 1800fps!

I've been looking for one of those molds! Where did you get it? Also what powder are you using? I've been working up a copper jacketed load in this cal using AA1680. 1680 meters so perfect through my Lee Perfect Powder Measure I have been able to stop weighing my charges and still hit sub MOA with them.

No time this fall but want to cast" chicken loads" using the Lee 93gr .311 bullets for the T33 pistol.............Harold

Had my cast out today. 23.5 grains IMR3031.

What a pleasure to shoot. Accuracy was better than surplus. No chrono info. About 6" at 50 yards off hand.

What surprised me is that the cast went through a 5" frozen tree. I know some people use frozen wood as a measure of performance ;)

Very nice! I to am surprised that it went thru a 5" tree. Was it a live tree? Dead trees and lumber don't have enough moisture to "freeze";)

Hahaha I just got my 7.62x39 mould a few weeks ago. I've cast a few but haven't loaded up any yet.

Well, hopefully if wife leaves me alone, I have a good number of these loaded up for some more target practice.

Gas checked and waiting to get gas checked.

If you look at the cost of mold only, so far I paid $34 for 250 bullets <mic drop>

let that sink in for a moment, $37 for if you include lead and gas check.

What are your costs on gas checks? Or where did you get a mold for .30cal gas checks? I'm costing out molds at present. I have enough pop cans that I or family goes thru that aluminum is no problem. Do you have trouble raising the heat to melt it? Lead seems no issue but aluminum requires higher Temps or cam my turkey stove cook that too?

If you don't mind asking , what rifle are you using? I've wanted to reload for 7.62x39 for awhile, but didn't want to send the funds on something that would be so..so., but 2"@100 with cast lead , is pretty good!
200 grain, must be a good long bullet, good and stable.
Cheers

So I sorted my bullets by wait. 157 grains +/- 1 grain was my target.

To my utter amazement, out of 240 some odd bullets only about a half a dozen will be going in the pot again.

Should note here that I had already culled the deformed bullets

Life is good.
