Has anyone had a SKS trigger job by HiCal in Mission BC? If so, were the results satisfactory? Was most of the creep eliminated? How light is the new trigger pull?

Our trigger jobs consist of replacing the sear & hammer springs with Wolff springs, Adjusting the sear/hammer contact angles to neutral engagement, stoning the hammer/sear surfaces, smoothing & polishing the sear rails & the sear channels, then we shorten the sear to get optimum feel, without too much creep. The pull is about 5 lbs, but way smoother, with a lot less creep. You can never get a target grade trigger on an SKS, due to the basic design, but we can sure make it better for $99, including parts.....

Working on triggers are like doing the brakes on a car. If you aren't 110% sure wtf you are doing, have a professional do it for you. Triggers jobs aren't that difficult if you know what you're doing, but just like brakes... get it wrong and it's a dangerous accident waiting to happen.

That's one reason I wouldn't hire the aforementioned vendor... they aren't gunsmiths. Iirc the proprietor is a plumber.

If you cant do a brake job you need to turn in your man card. LoL...

As far as an SKS trigger goes its the 2nd esieast trigger job you can do. The esiest is the mosin.

I agree with you on all counts. But 75% of the people I know don't know how to do their own brakes, and I shudder to think of them working on a trigger. Not a lot of people even carrying man cards these days.

I also recommend the hical trigger work. crisp 5lbs or so.

I also know a lot of people, and almost all of them don't know anything about fixing cars, myself included. I do some of my own gun work, but what I don't know, and is related to safety, I contract out to the pros. The rest youtube can teach me.

X2, worth every penny. Mine are at about 4.5lbs, crisp.
