Best 3 gun's Ar-15 out of the box?

Out to what distances are their 3 Gun matches out of curiosity?
In USPSA 3 Gun competitions roughly 25% of targets are in the 200-300Y range and another 10% are over 300Y.

What is the problem with someone wanting to buy something better than Norinco or NEA or something designed for the task at hand?
Maybe they can afford to buy both a better rifle and lots of practice ammo.
It goes back to the title of the thread which is The best out of the box AR-15 for 3 Gun.

300 metres isn't an issue for a bone stock AR. There really is no need for match grade parts.

standard rating for an m4 spec is to be 4moa or better
4moa group spread at 300 yards is 12 inches
if you need to hit a hostage type target disk, thats usually either 6 or 9 inches. so you have a problem there

My stock norc shoots 3moa with PMC 62gr green tip. 4-5moa with norc surplus.

Swap in a CC IUR and it shoots under 2moa with the PMC.

That standard is the MINIMUM not the average. How often do you see a hostage shot at 300 metres at a match, let's be realistic.

First of all the title is The best 3 Gun AR-15 out of the box. not what mods does my rifle need to win at 3 Gun, fitness and nutrition for 3 Gun, or how to win at 3 Gun.
There is a 30+ page thread titled 3 Gun tips and tricks in the competition forum.

Secondly your argument would be more valid if 3 Gun would have a "mil-spec" division or whatever you would want to call it similar to the production division in IPSC.
The minute you put the word competition out there competitive people will show up to compete.
Everything else being equal the person with the gun that is easier to reload, more reliable, more accurate, has less recoil and can shoot follow up shots quicker will win every time.

Uhhh, nope. I know it was just a local match here but the guy that won the last TWO matches(and took second at the first of the season) did so with a plain Jane AR with an ACOG. He's a fat guy too.

I've shot slim Sammies out to 300 yards a number of times. I'm starting to think this 4 moa standard is just a myth

I've also shot targets at 500y that I think we're no more than 12-14" discs

I suspect like most shots that has more to do with the shooter and the zero/setup than it does with the rifle itself. No one I know uses match ammo so trying to squeeze the best performance out of the rifle is just not going to happen.

I disagree. A bone stock non match barrel can shoot say 2 moa. When you are at a bench, not hyped from adrenaline and racing the clock, and off-hand of course. Say, like my stag 3g I can get half of 2 moa, or 1 moa, then when I'm on the clock and wobbly my miss factor is lower, or half what the mil-spec is. I have seen guys shoot at 200m targets and miss, when on the clock and wobbly

It's not clear to me what you guys are debating here. It seems you are suggesting that a 3MOA gun is just as good at shooting a 4MOA target on a 3gun stage as a 1MOA gun. If you believe that and want to continue being naive, it's your loss. I'll grant you it is consistent with the belief that the performance of your AR makes no difference in your 3gun stage score.

There is also the LMT SLK8 and Noveske Rival. Both of which are targeted towards 3 gun shooter.
