Canadian BDX (not CamPro) Bullets - What's with the oil/film on their projectiles?

It's Canola oil - BDX uses it when final sizing.
I've had it before on their bullets (way back when I used them) - it has no effect on your powder and you can load them without degreasing them, but it's a PITA picking the bullet up to put it on a case with the oil on.

You have two choices - either get a bullet feeder or dump them on a towel and pat them down first.

Next time - save yourself the trouble and just get Campros from me... ;)

I usually do buy from you Sean which is why I was thinking these were at first CamPros. I honestly cannot remember when I purchased these 9mm or from who (whom?). They've been sitting in my bunker for at least 3 years, probably more. I don't shoot much 9mm at all but I figured it is time to load up a bunch to have on hand for non-match shooting with the smaller gun.

See you on Sunday.

Marcel

Well Campro went from bags to boxes kind of lately? :)

If you were getting them from us - we used to get them in bags 'cause we used to ride on Wolf Bullets orders - and he wanted bags. (Better for the bulk ammo manufacturers)
Now we get them directly - so they box them. (Better for retail sales)

Fusilier, you know I'm just having fun pulling your chain, right? :d:cheers:
I'd check with Rod on the source of the BDXs - I think I remember him getting some at some point - maybe that's where yours came from.

All my bdx's came from router river arms, accept I impulse bought a box of 3000 from Gagnon. Still have half left.

I can recognize a joke, usually anyway.

I heard back from the folks at Canadian BDX and the oil is indeed a non-petrolium product that used to be part of their manufacturing processes. They've changed their processes since then which mitigates this particular problem. They suggest washing them with dish soap (I use more Dawn dish soap for gun stuff than I do in the kitchen).

Odds are pretty good that I bought these bullets in a buy with Rod but be damned if I can recall when.

Cheers,

Isn't that the best though, finding a box of supplies you forgot to you had. It's like Christmas all over again!

True, as long as you find them before you go and buy more. As was my case.

I can't wait to see what I have in the bunker for loading .308 and .223. I suspect I'll easily end up loading way more ammo than I'll get the chance to shoot this season.

Ha ha I've got a lot of equipment that are two of each
