A Story About Glocks.

The H&K USP is a better pistol in ever respect.

And there we go.....only down hill from here. Can't believe I made it reading almost two whole pages about glocks before hayday had two throw his two cents in the cr@per. Surprising!

Wouldn't expect anything less from that guy and now come the personal comments towards anyone who doesn't agree with him. Insulting intelligence, blind deaf dumb ect.

Can't you do everyone a favour, mods/admins including every other cgn member, just read silently and move along?

I have a couple, got my first one back in the 80's (a 23). Let it go because I didnt like having the ejected brass bounce off my forehead every round. Fast forward 30-35 years or so and I have a 19 and a 21. Both shoot well, are accurate, etc. On the other hand, I likely have a dozen 1911's. So it goes. - dan

Great stories, but throwing a Glock with a round in the chamber down range and then all running to jump on top of it sounds like a bad idea.

Nah, just some fancy marketing way for them to show off the firing-pin plunger safety back then. We all understand why the Glock won't go off because the plunger safety is totally blocking the firing pin from even moving forward at all but back in the 80's it was such an amazing new concept most people don't realize what's going on inside. Anyone who understand how the Glock working internally nowadays will probably say 'yeah that is expected, why so surprised? (unless you have a really faulty safety plunger spring.... muhahahahhahaha)' Should anyone try to do that with a Glock? NO.... Is it a cool marketing scheme... Kinda... at least in the 80's

I also thought the same thing about it being a bad idea, but again, at the time it was sure a cool thing. Either way I would not want to try that with a pistol that doesn't have a similar plunger safety as the Glock. It's like the Pre-64 Model 70 safety versus the Remington 700 safety, just no comparison.

I also wanna share a non-Glock personal story to share with everyone. It was 1989 and I joined my high school's activity to go visit the Vancouver Police building. It was called the Vancouver Safety Building near Main and Powell back then. It was a 2 days tour and the highlight of the first day was visiting the indoor range inside the police station. Of course each of the visiting student got 12 rounds (2 X 6rds in 2 speed loaders) to shoot. It was my first time shooting a handgun so I was more than excited. I patiently wait for my turn and then it happened. The girl in front of me after firing the 2nd (or 3rd.. it was a long time ago) dropped the pistol. Everyone jumped. The officer in charge of the range quickly rush to the station secured the revolver. I over heard him said to himself about it is lucky it didn't discharge. Not sure we are really lucky or not. But I was lucky. As everything settled, we resume the shooting and I end up getting 3 X 6 shots speed loader plus the shots left in the revolver ^_^ I still remember the officer commented on my shooting asking if I have shot a revolver before. I still have that target sheet with me but honestly by my today's standard it was pretty bad shot LOL.

Vancouver Police used to carry S&W Model 10s, and they have a hammer block that doesn't move until the trigger is pulled. There is no risk of discharge when dropped.

I love my Glocks too, but funny story: My friend did the same "stomp it in the mud demonstration" (only his chamber was empty). I've seen him do it dozens of times before, only this time it WOULDN'T fire... You shoulda seen the look on his face!!!!!

We had just swapped out the OEM connector for a 3.5 pound Ghost Rocket. After significant testing we found that the aftermarket lighter connectors negatively impacted how robust the Glock is. We all swapped back to OEM connectors and left the fancy ones to the racers.

Imagine if the Glock hadn't fired when the Glock rep went to fire it!

Doesn't surprise me with the aftermarket connector tbh. As a general rule... if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Kind of like people taking SKS' that function perfectly, putting some plastic mags on it and then wonder why their gun ftf's.

Let us keep this thread on track, positive Glock stories. The mods have warned about recreating the other debacle. Let us avoid infractions and stay on topic - pro Glock stories.

As for myself, I know Glocks great guns. Not the best or the prettiest, far from it. But they do as designed - Fire when loaded and the trigger is pressed. No unnecessary safeties to have to manipulate in high stress situations, no bells and whistles and just as effective with far fewer parts.

I have had zero issues with the many Glocks I have owned and fired over the years. Very reliable guns indeed.

My G17C gen 4 has been flawless for me and gotten at least 4 friends hooked on shooting pistols.

Edit- also like iraqveteran8888 a great channel lots of info

I have only fired 2 glocks
first one was a 40 cal a very long time ago (gen 1) glad it was not mine could not hit a target with repeatability
and 45 acp model that one of my friends had (not bad) I hit 3 out of 5 shots on steel at 50 yds (never fired that gun before)

But something can be said about steel framed guns -- if you have a brass fail in the head area all you do is replace the grip panels and put in another mag and you are up and running again
you dont have a cracked frame

Glocks are different and require getting used to. The grip angle os different as is the trigger. When I first started training on Glocks, my accuracy was poor. Now I am very confident with any Glock with triggers as light as 3.5 lbs all the way up to NY2.

Anyone can shoot okay with a light and easy trigger like a 1911. Takes a real shooter to master heavier triggers and the fundamentals really come into play.

Yeah. Love the gun gripes. The new ones are okay but not as good as the older ones. Rip.

Glad everyone enjoyed the stories! I was awaiting the Glock-hating-train to come ramming but was pleasantly surprised haha.

The night is young. The hate train be a-coming soon!
I've actually seen the mud test with a Glock (unloaded). Hackathorn does it to show the difference between a work gun and a safe queen. And who safe queen's a Glock?

The mud test I saw was the same one PE saw!^^^ and it was funny!
