is it possible to source a 14" barrel for an Ithaca M37 in Canada? Have no idea ..

Reason for asking .... stumbled across a Feather weight M37 for a $240 today in a shop. Decent shape. Think it's a 28 or 30" barrel and a 5 round mag tube.

Have no need for such an SG but my first thought was . "this would be cool if you could chop it at 14". However our awesome laws preclude that.

Wouldn't really want to get it cut to 18.5" because I'd want a full length mag tube.

Then I wondered if it was possible to source a 14" barrel.

Is it realistically possible to find such a beast in Canada or is that fantasy ?
Thanks.

There are a few of them out there, although good luck finding an owner will to part with one, and if you did they'd probably just sell you the complete gun.

Very hard to find, best bet would be to buy an original Ithaca Stakeout in the US and get it imported.

Bonus is you save ½", barrel length of an original Stakeout is 13.5" .

You can put an add in the EE but $$$$

.

Had a feeling this was a bit of a fantasy but figured I'd enquire.

Seems equally as difficult to make the necessary changes for an extended mag tube for an 18.5"

The factory full length mag tubes are for a 20" barrel, I'm personally not a big fan of them because they noticably upset the handling of these lightweight shotguns.

Didn't they offer an 18.5" with a full length mag tube ? You're saying this was only 20" M37's ?

I'm not up enough on my M37 details.

Damn, you guys are breaking my M37 fantasies. In an ideal world I'd like an 18.5" with full length tube and/or a 14".

There were custom lengths and gunsmith conversions of up to 30", but regular barrel length for a full length tube to this day, is 20 inches.

I forgot to add, too, that the barrels aren't necessarily drop-in interchangeable between receivers even past the 855,000 serial number mark, or whatever it is.

They still should be checked for fit and headspace according to an Ithaca 37 specialist gunsmith I spoke to.

Sounds like to get what I'd like to see in an M37 is gonna be a bit of a costly ordeal.

Thanks for the info guys.

I too was looking for a 14" barrel with no success so i've decided to get a factory Ithaca Stakeout instead, long wait but worth it.

Even got the ultra rare Pachmayr Vindicator grip for it.

And yes it does slamfire !

Damn that looks nice. I prefer it with the stock. I'd love to get my hands on one of those forends.

I have one of the 14" M87 barrels. I've only ever seen a couple come up for sale over the years.

Was at an auction at Bud Haynes a number of years ago and they were selling off a bunch of short barrels. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't buy one. If I came across one now...

The MP shotguns sold for between $300-$350 and the barrels went for $85.
