If anyone has a lead on a stacking hook, I'd appreciate it!

IIRC it's serialized part, so it would be easier to find another complete matching carbine. Interesting that this carbine has no 1920 marking.

I've passed on a few of the Polish ones, but I think you're right that finding a parts gun is going to be more realistic than finding the part itself.

Very nice :).

Any unit markings on the upper butt plate tang ?

I had not noticed it before but there is! I have some speculation as to what it is, but it is not in great shape and I will leave it to the experts to try to decipher it:

I believe it reads:

16 A.F.
2. 35

16th foot artillery regiment, 2nd battery, weapon # 35, that is a rough translation that I can make out at any rate.

I agree, but there are two units which fit this:

Lothringisches Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr.16, or possibly Feldartillerie-Regiment (1. Ostpreuß.) Nr. 16

Depending on if you interpret A.F. as "Artillerie zu Fuß/ Fußartillerie" or "Feldartillerie."

Is there another way to read A.F.?

Consensus on the sites I have shared it on is that it's from Lothringisches Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr.16 - The 16. Foot Artillery Regiment raised in Lorraine.

Now I would like to take this conversation in a bit of a tangent - what is the difference between a Foot Artillery Regiment and a Field Artillery Regiment?

My understanding is that they are terms that were holdovers from the Franco-Prussian war period and that Feldartillerie was lighter mobile artillery using smaller caliber guns and the Fußartillerie were units that used heavier guns like howitzers.
