It will work just fine... I've had a similar configuration. I eventually progressed towards fibre-optic Battue-style open sights for the close-in stuff and I find I'm more consistent and quicker on target. I wouldn't personally use a red dot beyond 100 yards, but that's just me.
She's a beaut.
Where'd you pick up the XS Scout rail? I've been looking for one for my scout.

Where did you get your MaSi QD scope mount? Is there anywhere in Canada that sells them?
Mount
I bought direct from the company. Not a huge issue, other than having to wire the money from the bank. The best scope mount I have ever owned. Worth every penny.
What was the price? If you dont mind me asking, you can private msg if you like.

Here are some angles of my T3 Battue with MaSi mount and VXR 1.25-4x20 scope. VERY happy with this set-up, and of course, sub-MOA.

The 1-4 or 1.5 - 4 or 5 are nice options...... I used to run one on the scout, and took a few deer with it...... it's a very serviceable combo if you want a rifle you can dog with as well as a rifle you can sit watch with....
BUT, in my neck of the woods, with shots presented at 100 yards or less while dogging, the animal may be on the move, so the red dots are heads over tails better..... plus they make your rifle less top heavy and a breeze to carry.....
Just me, but for deer here, I carry my scout with holosun red dot for dogging and, if I am on watch, it's my 7-08 with a Zeiss 2-7 at the ready.....
What model is the Primary Arms red dot and where did you get it?I was thinking about doing the same thing and recently picked up a Primary Arms red dot to experiment with. I think Primary Arms are associated with Holosun or are made in the same factory or something like that. I like it. It doesn't add much weight to the rifle and gets on target fast.
I think it will be perfect for a close range optic in the bush.
