My very first Sig P210 ( a P210-2 as you can see) arrived in the mail today. After handling it I'm beginning to see what all the fuss is about. I don't think I've ever held a gun that felt as natural or comfortable in my hand and the fit and finish is pretty outstanding for a service gun.:d The grips are numbered sequentially and are dated 2/63. From what I've read it's a tough gun to date from the serial number (A157### in this case) but the grips can provide a clue.

I can't wait to get it to the range!

You actually have a decommissioned Swiss military P49 pistol confirmed with the "P" stamped on the left side of the trigger guard as the P210-2 is the civilian version with a P serial prefix. Serial A157### is indeed from the mid 60's so your grips are original and pretty much date the pistol too.

Very nice pistol indeed. And very accurate too, congrats!

Thanks. As I understand it a P stamped on the trigger guard indicates a gift to a retiring soldier. Is that correct?

Yes kind of, a retiring active soldier as the choice to keep his pistol. When they do, the pistol gets a "P" stamped for private ownership. If they don't, the pistol is put back in service.

What a beauty. Such a phenomenal pistol.

Yes it is Graham. One of the best service pistol there is.

You'll have to take better pics of it Sailor!

Here's one of the first pick out of the TEC latest and best batch of P210's to ever hit our shores! A late '71 manufactured P49 in near perfect condition complete with matching holster and shoulder strap.
