How many of you Vz 58/CZ858 guy & gals out there detail strip the bolt to clean it?! I have no issues detail stripping any other firearm, except for the Vz 58! I am unable to remove the extractor..

For those of you that have detail stripped it... How did you do it? Any tricks that might help me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Thanks for the quick reply Dilligaf. I did watch this video earlier today. Unfortunately, I still can't do it. For some reason it is extremely difficult for me to depress the spring.. I'm not sure if it's because the rifle is still pretty new? It only has like 500 rounds through it.

Thanks for the feed back guys! I think I'll probably scratch the idea on complete disassembly. Maybe in time if it gets cruddy enough, I'll go with some brake cleaner, compressed air & some oil.

its an absolute pain in the butt to disassemble, just keep at it. That guy in the video has probably stripped that thing 50 times before he did the video. Plan to waste about 30 minutes getting that spring out, cleaning, and putting back in. Its harder to get back in lol.

That makes a person pray that they never break a firing pin or spring!

Yeah, it is bugging me quite a bit not being able to take it apart. I've been using a narrow center punch to depress the spring... I wonder if using something similar to what the guy used in that video would make a difference? The tool he used is tapered and the piece of the tool that is doing the depressing is quite narrow... Do you guys think it will make the much of a difference? I'm also wondering if anybody here tried making a jig to assist them?

I've replaced a pin and had to disassemble once. As I recall it was a pain, after stabbing myself and many minutes of cursing, if I remember right it had more to do with how the extractor pivoted out once the spring was depressed. Wasn't easy. If yours wasn't broke leave it.

Right on guys, thanks for all the feed back. I appreciate all of your comments. I will continue my battle with this infernal bolt in the future.
Bolt=1 Me=0
:)

I've had mine for 5 years, shot it lots, never took the bolt apart. If the firing pin breaks, I will learn how but it looks way too painful to play with otherwise.

Damn, good eye. I just opened my cleaning kit for the first time... Lol Got the same pick. I think I'll try to shoot it some more as Rundle has suggested... maybe it will loosen it up. I'll put a few hundred rounds through it this weekend... Then I'll try to have at her with the pick.

I think the video also advocates stacking the plug and spring then pushing the extractor and bolt on to it. This hasn't worked for me. I use the pick to depress the spring and plunger while getting the extractor back to 30 degrees in before pressing the spring the rest of the way back to seat the extractor.
