What powder you guys using to load your 9mm?

I have been using the same load for over 10 years now. 4.7gr of HS-6 pushing a 147gr. cast lead bullet. I have been powder coating them for the last 3 years or so. The same load moves the PC bullet 10-15fps faster.

I use CFE Pistol with 124-125gr bullets in a Cx4 carbine. I wanted a relatively slow ball powder to take advantage of the barrel length. The next one I'll try will likely be HS-6.

Yeah, the carbine thing is important to me as well. I traded my CX4 for a Shadow 2, but just got a gen 2 sub2000 from FOC and want to create a good cartridge for it.

So I am gonna have to find CFE pistol and HS-6 by the sounds of it.

You folks are awesome by the way. In no other forum is the wealth of knowledge and help so abundant.

I don't know about CFE pistol, but HS-6 does not do so well on the bottom end. It gets very dirty. It runs better/cleaner near max loadings.

I've been using w 231 for 115 gr 9s and titegroup for 45 and 357, I'm about 1/2 way through my 10 lbs of titegroup, cant complain. Using 231 for the 9s as I got it from a fellow shooter who was parting out a deceased shooters stash. Couple months ago I found a place online that had 4 lb 231 jugs, so bought another as this is first time in about 5 years I've seen 231 in stores. Like OP, might be time to buy another 8 lb tightgroup and more primers.

So would 3.0 grains of titegroup, using a small RIFLE primer under a 147 cast and powder coated bullet be a good starting load?

My concern is how much extra power a rifle primer adds..?

My testing the SRP vs SPP made exactly zero difference in my load on the chronograph. I shoot CamPro plated not lead cast or coated but my load is 3.3gn of Titegroup on a 147 gn at 1.115 in both my Shadow 2's and that was right around 130 power factor. If the PF isn't important to you that 3 gns would be a good starting point.

Thank you so much D! I will start at 3 grains and move up until I find a sweet spot for my pistols ;)

How was the game?

So, I am rather broke at the moment. So just went super cheap! I hope I don't end up regretting it, but I just saw CanAmmo has dominion arms powder now! I bought 10 pounds of their pistol powder... I didn't wanna go too nuts on the CC without even trying the stuff. By the time I test it, decide I like it and go to buy more... it will be gone for 6 months with the price jacked upon its return no doubt.

Load data for it is apparently that of X700 minus 10%

Got to the range today to do some load development with N320 and Campro 147's but for curiousity sake I loaded up a few Xmetal 147 GN coated rounds and tested them with Titegroup. I ran a 10 shot group with 3.0 grains and a 10 shot group with 3.2 grains loaded to 1.118 OAL. The 3.0 grain load gave me an avg of 912 fps, making the power factor 134, the 3.2 grain load averaged at 943 fps for a 138 pf. So 3.0 grains under a coated 147 is plenty hot enough, if you don't care about PF for IPSC or IDPA you may want to test starting as low as 2.7 grains.
