Trophy Hunting in the News

the problem is this [adresko calls herself the "Inked Huntress" on Instagram and is very active in posting photos of herself and her hunting trophy's ]
she is looking for attention she should
just hunt and shut up ..i hunt also and nobody threatens me or my kids ..

I think what many folks don't get is that "trophy" hunters often buy tags and never fill them.

I haven't shot a whitetail deer in years because I have Moose/Elk/Beef to eat and unless a massive mature buck shows himself I'm not pulling the trigger. Over the years I have passed on many bucks other guys would have dumped without hesitation.

Who is doing more for conservation, the meat hunter who takes animals every year or the "trophy" hunter who is looking for a specific class of animal?

Yet another article on trophy hunting. It is always the same old argument against trophy hunting and yet countries in Africa that utilise trophy hunting like South Africa and Namibia have the largest and growing wildlife populations. Our hunting business occupies land in RSA that use to be prime grazing habitat for sheep and beef. Now due to hunting we have over 28 self sustaining species on our land that would never exist. It is simple "if it pays it stays". All the anti hunting folks do when they stop someone from trophy hunting is in fact kill wildlife as the land will be repurposed economically and the wildlife will disappear.

Why waste your time reading or commenting with people on CBC.....they are about as closed minded as a person can be. Funny thing that you never hear outrage, anger and death threats from African people about hunting but get it from the soccer moms and queer hipsters living in the big cities.

Truly amazes me how inexperienced, ignorant, uneducated and arrogant these commenters are on CBC. A common comment is that trophy hunters kill the biggest and strongest males of the species for "trophies" which weakens the species genetics.

Of course trophy hunters shoot the oldest, largest, mature males. How else would an an animal be able to reach the status of trophy? By shooting it as a fawn or yearling like a meat hunter? The whole premise behind trophy hunting is to let your herd reach maturity so you can select the best genetics to keep alive and propagate within your species' herd. The only way to do this is to let all the animals attain maturity and then leave your "trophy" to breed a couple more years before "taking" him out of the herd the year before his fall from dominance and breeding rights in the social hierarchy.

A properly managed trophy hunting property or ranch will ensure that their trophy animals have had at least 2-3 years to breed their genes into the herd. And furthermore, once the trophy is killed, there is another suitable animal of sufficient age and quality to take it's place. And, several opportunities exist to take mature males of non trophy quality which when culled improve the overall genetics of the population because these males have had little time to breed into the herd their genetics. Thus, trophy hunting truly is the only form of sustainable wildlife management.

The only reason people don't like it is because they don't understand how it works and how it benefits both humans and wildlife.

Personally not my thing and the Kim K Instagram stuff is moronic IMO. That said I find it funny that CBC will allow comments on this but not a chance on any issue of refugees, immigration policy, Islamic concerns or any other topic on the left!!

The whole thing makes me very angry.

1) The person chosen to speak for trophy hunting in the article said some really dumb sh!t.

2) There are hunters in the comments who make things far worse by talking about how meat hunting is for food but trophy hunting is disgusting.

3) Most of my comments containing information about why trophy hunting is saving animals in Africa have been disabled.

It is quite obvious that the article was written to give the whining, leftist citiots a place to express their condemnation and ignorance.

I have e-mailed the author of the article:

Hello Ms. Mayor,

Thank you for your recent article on trophy hunting. As you can tell from the comments section, and as I am sure you were already aware, this is a very controversial subject.

I am not sure if you are aware of the bigger picture when it comes to trophy hunting, but since you wrote the article I can only assume that you have some interest in truly understanding the issues. I therefore urge you to dig deeper.

I am a meat hunter, myself. As are my wife and daughters and many friends. The meat we eat comes from the wilderness. We take responsibility for the deaths of the animals that we hunt. I do not personally have a desire to hunt simply for a trophy, but after making the effort to research and understand the trophy hunting industry, I do support it.

The person you chose to profile, and the quotes you chose to print, are not particularly flattering or informative regarding the reality of trophy hunting. This isn't a criticism as much as it is simply an attempt to inform you.

If you have 17 minutes to spare, I encourage you to watch this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWxvZyAygb8

After watching that, and perhaps doing some more research, you may re-read your article and the corresponding comments section and come to some realization. What role do you want to play in the protection of these species? Trophy hunters, and the people who own and operate these huge game preserves, have made their decisions; they do not want to see the extinction of these species.

Respectfully,

X (a meat hunter)

From the link:
In early 2016, in an interview with ITV News, Prince William said "there is a place for trophy hunting," and "that the money that goes from shooting a very old infirm animal goes back into the protection of the other species."[/iI]

and Queen Elizabeth II wrings necks of injured pigeons. From Britain of all places, the royal family gets it.

Some people cannot control free will, wasting the enormous potential bestowed upon them, persecuting and threatening others for no purpose. It's not "left wing lunatics", it's "no wings, feathers or even bird brained lunatics"... "alt-left", "alt-wrong" or the timeless classic DEMENTED.

I appreciate the kind words and input from everyone.

I think it is time for me to embrace more responsibility for hunting. Until now, I have been content to merely be responsible for my own affairs, and those of my wife and children - whom I have led down the path of killing animals to eat meat.

The fact that our current society is comprised primarily of people who do not know (or care) where their meat comes from is a huge concern. In fact, their biggest concern truly should be, "where does my food come from?" Not just their meat, but every other processed "food product" that they blindly pick up at Walmart in their 4:30pm, post-labour, haze.

As a species, we have become totally detached from our relationship with nature and the planet. Evidence of this is not difficult to find.

(I had so much more to say - and I wrote so much more - but I will cut it short ...)

+1. She's an attention whore.

Yeah, she's an attention whore for sure.

And she probably had no idea she was walking into a Liberal trap by giving the CBC any time. No sane and informed Canadian hunter would ever fall for that one. Funny how Liberals can esaily drop the word "illegal" before immigrant when they want to argue, but they can't say hunter without adding "trophy" to give themselves a hook to hang their pink pussy hat on.

I'd like to see them interview Ted Nugent and try to roll over him with words. LOL

The meat hunters actually do more, if everybody passed on every animal until the wall hanger came along we would have to rely on automobiles to help thin the population as the population could grow massively promoting disease and weakness in the herd, although there is the extreme side of it where a population can be totally wiped out.Keep it at a sustainable level, thin the numbers and take smaller and lesser animals , allow the bigger ones to reproduce, you get a stronger herd, WITH larger bucks. :)

Flip side and not many non-hunters , animal activists understand this is that too many animals will have a detrimental effect on human safety and insurance rates as well as the health of the herd.

Deer sausage directly effects your safety. :)

She wants the attention and the controversy. It helps RealTree promote their products.

Not sure what their target demographic is. How many people here are going to buy RealTree products because they are promoted by some tatted-up skank with fake tits?
