Trophy Hunting in the News

She wants the attention and the controversy. It helps RealTree promote their products.

Not sure what their target demographic is. How many people here are going to buy RealTree products because they are promoted by some tatted-up skank with fake tits?

LOL I'm sure there are many. It's like marketing 101

I find it sad that something as basic like hunting has been turned into ridiculous commercial ventures and self promotion. When I grew up hunting was simply a part of our social fabric. It brought people together to promote it and protect it in the form of wildlife organizations, local big buck nights and so on. IMHO turning hunting into money making venture of clothing, and all the gadgets and gizmos is just sad. Shooting a big trophy was an event that was shared with buddies and maybe you earned some bragging rights for a while. Now it is looked at as an opportunity to line your pockets.

This woman is simply looking to promote herself and get publicity. Ask yourself " would you sign up for an interview where you know bloody well they are going to spin it against you" what other reason than self serving publicity.

The meat hunters actually do more, if everybody passed on every animal until the wall hanger came along we would have to rely on automobiles to help thin the population as the population could grow massively promoting disease and weakness in the herd, although there is the extreme side of it where a population can be totally wiped out.Keep it at a sustainable level, thin the numbers and take smaller and lesser animals , allow the bigger ones to reproduce, you get a stronger herd, WITH larger bucks. :)

Flip side and not many non-hunters , animal activists understand this is that too many animals will have a detrimental effect on human safety and insurance rates as well as the health of the herd.

Deer sausage directly effects your safety. :)

Where I live (an hour NW of you) the weather, wolves and coyotes are pretty successful in keeping numbers in check.

I grew up a meat hunter and never needed past noon on opening day, as a kid.

Times have changed. If every road warrior I see in a season was a meat hunter there wouldn't be an animal left out here.

Trophy or meat hunter, I have no issue with either view, as I am both depending on species.

Fascinated by by the CBC a**hole focussed on killing animals. Kill, harvest, whatever.

Does he think his beef comes in styrofoam and no killing was involved ?
Hells - bells, even vegans kill carrots ... as soon as they rip them violently out of the ground.

Reminds me of the tourist lady visiting a fox farm on PEI.

"Beautiful animals. How many times a year do you pelt them ?" she asked ....

"Just once, but it makes them madder than hell" came the reply.

People are no longer capable of enjoying the moment. It's all about pictures, video, social media and wanting to show everyone in the world. People live their lives through the screen on their "smart (stupid) phones. " I can't wait to show everyone what I am doing or have done". Get used to it, it appears to be here to stay.

Don't get me started on the people who insist on trying get rich off it.

It's sad, but social media and buddy parenting have given us a society that craves affirmation for every little action.

Meanwhile back at the ranch...I refuse to dignify it by participating.

This is my social media!

Haven't hunted up that way since I was just a weeee lad.

But when guys on CGN post hunting pics they're all fine and noble? Misoginyze much?

X2

Women hunters get slammed hard by the media and the anti hunting crowd. It seems that some hunters also like to participate. I've seen plenty of male hunters with tattoos and plenty of them post pics of themselves on social media. But since she is female, she gets hacked on. I'm not a big tattoo fan but get out of the past guys, women are participating in many activities traditionally dominated by men.

And it's a good thing they are. The more women that get involved in the shooting sports the more likely they will survive.

Yet another article on trophy hunting. It is always the same old argument against trophy hunting and yet countries in Africa that utilise trophy hunting like South Africa and Namibia have the largest and growing wildlife populations. Our hunting business occupies land in RSA that use to be prime grazing habitat for sheep and beef. Now due to hunting we have over 28 self sustaining species on our land that would never exist. It is simple "if it pays it stays". All the anti hunting folks do when they stop someone from trophy hunting is in fact kill wildlife as the land will be repurposed economically and the wildlife will disappear.

Well said.
