required length of barrel for trap and skeet?

Got it treat kid score keepers like crap!!

Having been involved with throwing shoots and organizing help as you likely have as well there is no need for the way some treat kids or maybe a wife of a fellow shooter that gets wrangled into helping.

I'd sure like to know where you shoot and see these kinds of things because in my 38 years of shooting skeet and trap I have never seen it?!! On the contrary I have seen nothing but friendly attitudes and helping the trappers and scorers with many of us relieving them to give them breaks, making sure they are hydrated, fed and protected from weather etc. especially at the larger shoots such as provincial and zone shoots where long days are the norm. Most of us have alot more experience at those jobs than the kids hired to do them and know full well the aspects of the job plus the shooters I know are good salt of the earth type people. I'm glad I don't shoot with your crowd.....

Along with shooting I have pulled and scored many rounds. It's rare but there were sometimes people complaining about slow pulls or insisting they "saw a chip." Smart shooters know it's never a good idea to piss off the scorer. Reflexes and eyesight get selectively poorer. ;)

Now and then some shooters that wanted to involve their youngsters asked to have them pull targets for the squad. In some cases, the youngster pulled the correct targets and pulled when the target was called for, and all was fine However, sometimes the youngster pulled the wrong targets, or there was a delay of several seconds after the shooter called for the target, so an adult had to take over. We did have one parent take offense to this, to the point that he became so angry, that he stormed off of the field, and never returned. The adult was not a regular shooter, and he didn't seem to care about the large number of wasted targets, or the fact that his child was disrupting the round for the entire squad. As to arguing with scorers, I have only seen it happen once, and it was at a fun shoot that a lodge was hosting, where myself and another individual had volunteered to score for. It was a fun shoot, with nothing but pride at stake, and the shooter annoyed the scorer to the point where he refused to volunteer for the lodge shoots again.

I've seen more of it at small shoots too. I remember a few years ago at an inter-club league shoot when a guy got a couple of slow pulls and what he thought was a missed chip (I didn't see it) and he cursed out the young woman who was scoring. Another shooter went up to him and said, "See that big guy standing by the club house door. That's the scorer's father. Pack up your crap and get lost before he finds out how you treated his daughter." The loudmouth went directly to his car and was never seen at the club again.

I have never been privvy to anyone giving a scorer a hard time. I have seen plenty of lost targets called and the shooter turn around and say it was hit but never angrily and the rest of the squad always alluded to what they had witnessed, hit or miss? If I ever saw anyone give the scorer attitude I'd step in immediately and tell them to cease and apologize for their rude behaviour or please leave our squad and report the incident to shoot management asap. There is no need for that kind of behaviour. We have all had times when we have had to take over pulling as someone inexperienced struggled but you always ensure you do it diplomatically and later work with the trainee one on one if they seem to not understand the concept. Nowadays of course pullers are almost a thing of the past owing to voice release systems.

I met a guy on the skeet field with a tactical 870 who reasoned "you fight like you train" so I allowed that if we were ever invaded by orange discs I'd call him first ! He wasn't amused , oh well. Then I saw him shoot and prayed we never are invaded by orange discs. I still see him occasionally and he has added the obligatory tactical beard to his outfit !!

Ah, tactical beard...must have fer sure and what about that pachewlly???
Was just at the local shotgun club this afternoon and they had no short barreled shotguns (under 26inch) at the 5 stand.

Possible in my 24 years I have seen more then you?

It’s all good Spank I have you haven’t, it isn’t all that pleasant when someone does treat a scorer like crap. As you say you will make them apologize and correct the behavior.
