I bought an Enfield No.4 mk 1/2. The tie plate with brass rivet are no longer on it. I've heard of people putting bolts/screws for the mk2 but I'm not sure if that's what mine needs since it was modified from a 1 to a 2. I just don't want to break the beautiful stock.

If I do need the tie plate does anyone know where to get one? I have searched far and wide. It was pretty difficult just to find the name since most diagrams don't even name it. Any help would be appreciated.

stuckon308: Any Mk II, original or conversion, will have a small diameter bolt running transversely through the rear of the frond. The back-strap used on a Mk I/I* cannot be used. Are you saying you're missing the bolt? You could probably find something that would work at a hardware- doesn't need to be particularly strong- just keeps the rear of the frond from spreading upon firing.

That strap would be easy enough to make. Brass rivet material is also easy to obtain. I recently had to fashion a new rivet for my No.5. Easily done.

There comes a time in your life when you have to say "What is my time worth?" I could easily make the part but if someone knows where I can get it for $5-10 I'd much prefer a stock part.

When I need the straps, I just salvage them off sporterized stocks and throw the remainder into the woodstove. But as Tiriaq mentioned, a mk2 rifle would only have a machine screw might and maybe a couple washers.

I think I have a few of the correct screws and nuts in my parts bin for the 2 but like collector says salvage one off a cut down stock should be lots around
