Are browning and rugers (not the american) worth their money ?

With CZ's running around 500-700 and seem to be the best for accuracy... Are the Ruger k77/22 and Browning T bolts worth their price ?

Even now, low end marlins and savages are finding homes with most hunters. I never see Tbolts or K77's in the field, at the range or on the EE.

Are they a dying breed? Are they worth their price ?
 
Yes, I know it goes against your posting title, but I thought I'd throw in here that I had two .223 REM rifles; a Ruger American I picked up in mint condition for $250 with rings and a Tikka t3 for $650. The Ruger shoots more consistent groups. It shoots more than 5 rounds MOA at 100M. I can only imagine the M77 is even better. I sold the Tikka.
CZ's are pretty damn nice, yes. I think that people are against paying $1100 for a Ruger. Just my opinion.
 
T-Bolts run in a class of their own.
Check the trigger pull.
If you can find the older unsalted version in good shape,
this would be a sure win.
Worn in actions are by far more fun.
 
The Ruger 77/22 is indeed a dying breed. They are no longer made, are they? The T-bolt's trigger leaves something to be desired compared to the CZ's, which is very easily lighted for bench shooting. Both the Ruger and the Browning had or have a higher retail prince when new compared to the CZ.
 
After buying one of these new Browning T-Bolts in .22 I can honestly say that these things are grossly overpriced for what you get. The accuracy is also not what one would expect from a gun priced at $800 or more.
 
I have spent a few days in the gopher patch with a friend who owns a Ruger 77/17 (I believe that is what they called the 17 HMR version).

It's a nice rifle, functions well and is accurate. However I wouldn't say it is better than a CZ and the CZ is significantly cheaper. I own CZs haha
 
The only complaint I've heard about the T-Bolt is the trigger pull could be a little lighter but it is adjustable. I had a 22 A-Bolt years ago that I regret selling very much. I've been eyeballing the T-Bolts for awhile..........
 
if your going to spend for a ruger or tbolt add some $ and buy an Anschutz. you won't be sorry. no mods needed. add ammo and shoot.

I dunno. There has to be a cut off ($) at some point otherwise why stop at a 'low' end Anschutz. Some people are just looking for a decent hunting/informal target rifle. I'm personally not interested in competing in sanctioned matches.

Then look at the CZ line if you can't afford an anschutz. For $650 most will out shoot the the bolt or ruger
 
Depends what you expect for your money. I'm not a fan of a bunch of loose fitting, unfinished cast surfaces so never would consider a Ruger bolt gun.
On a side note, when they did finally make a true machined from barstock/billet rifle (American Centerfire) it was the biggest POS I have ever seen. Soo many toolmarks it made Norinco look like a Sauer custom.

but you look at CZ and they offer very fine rifles. What I have seen, similar quality and accuracy (if not better) then ruger or browning.

I'm not saying ruger and browning did not have their day. It just seems to have passed, they don't seem to want to accept it and lower the price though.

I like CZ, but it's a very dated design as well. The bolt handle is too high which requires higher then optimal scope mounting, and the safety sucks.
They are nicely made though.

I agree, but they are still popular. Also seem to be the go to rifle of choice for people who want above average accuracy.

Why would I pay $800-900 for less accuracy then a $600 CZ
Why would I pay $800-900 for what a $300 savage can do ?
